SPECIFIC LESSON OBJECTIVE

As a result of this lesson, students will be able to: 1. Show a sound understanding of how the world looks in order to create their own versions Follow a set list of instructions in order to produce their posters Confidently use ICT in a creative manner to demonstrate the understanding of the topic

ASSESSMENT (what & how) Teacher to assess student capability via brief anecdotal notes. (Formal Assessment) Teacher can also causally assess via close (visual) monitoring of students when working as a whole class group. In order to determine whether students have understood the concept, the teacher can also casually quiz or pose a question whilst they are working (but ensure we do not pester them too much). (Informal Assessment) Teacher can also determine understanding by engaging in discussion at the end of class and asking various questions and encouraging/promoting thoughtful discussion/responses from the group. (Informal Assessment)

TEACHING & LEARNING EXPERIENCES (Include Learner Diversity)

Using prior knowledge of Google Earth and what they have previously learned in regards to Geographical Divisions, students are to create their own 'worlds' using Queeky (an online program similar to Microsoft Paint) They will be given a set of specifications they must include in their worlds, like labelling, one or two rivers, etc. and are encouraged to be as creative as possible. Students will be asked to print and mount their final pictures, and they will be used in a class display. We want students to confidently use a form of ICT to demonstrate their creativity and understanding of the topic. Students will demonstrate an ability to follow instructions correctly, use an easy to understand form of Paint to create their 'worlds'. Assessment of understanding will be observational, anecdotal and visual, using the finished product as a classroom display.
