Holmes: I see the #2 pencil in your right pocket, your Psych notebook on your desk, and the tired look, in your eyes, one gets from taking a midterm. Watson: Amazing! You got all that from just a few observations. Holmes: Its rather simple, my dear Watson. Watson: Well then, can you tell me where I recieved this watch from? Holmes: Let me take a look at it. Watson: (Hands over the his watch) Holmes: Well it has U.C.I.S.M. inscribed on it, so I am assuming it was a gift from your research group at the UCI School of Medicine. Watson: Yes!

Her lip trembled, her hand quivered, and she showed every sign of fear and worry. Emma: Good afternoon, Detective! My name is Emma Stone. This is my sister, Selena, and one of my best friends, Francisco. (points to them) I hope you dont mind them accompanying me today. Holmes: It is no problem at all. How can I help you? Emma: I have come to you, Mr. Holmes, because I need your assistance. Holmes: Please take a seat, and you too Francisco and Selena. (Holmes takes a smoke and Mrs. Hudson walks in) Mrs. Hudson: Hey! (Holmes nods and immediately starts deducing information about her while Watson is just standing there and listening to Holmes deductions) Holmes: I look at you and I see that you work in an office (Emma looks at her clothes), you have a husband and in fact you just got married (Emma refers to her ring), and you havent slept for days. Emma: But..how did you know? This is our first meeting yet you know a lot of information about me.

Holmes: People who work in office environments have to follow the companys dress code. Your diamond ring on your left ring finger shines as if it is new. So you recently got married yet you came without your husband. Your husband is the reason why you havent been sleeping lately and now there are bags formed under your eyes. Something must be wrong with him. Emma: (surprisedand speechless)

SCENE 4 (Francisco and Vincent) CHARACTERS - Watson, Holmes, Emma, Selena, Francisco PROPS - 221B Baker Street, four envelopes, three filled with money and one with the letter from the anonymous person, five chairs, table Emma: Im so sorry to bother you Mr. Holmes, but I desperately need your assistance. My husband, Peter, has been missing for two days now and strange things have been occurring. You see, our wedding was three days ago. But we had to postpone the honeymoon because Peters mother was ill. Peter went to go take care of her while she was sick. I couldnt go because I was working on an architectural project at UCI. I talked to Peter on the phone right before he made his trip home. Since then, I havent heard from him at all. Selena: Well honestly I am glad he is missing, he probably isnt even missing, he just lef t you, like I told you he would. This was for the best; he is no good for you Emma. Francisco: Peter is not a bad guy Selena! Hes an amazing guy. I think hes a great guy for your sister. (Looks to Holmes) Mr. Holmes, I was Peters best man and I helped plan the wedding. I think I know him better than Selena and I can assure you that he is not the type of guy who would walk out of a relationship

Watson: I should probably leave and let you guys talk about this privately.

Holmes: No, no! Stay. This may be the day you prove yourself useful to me.

Emma: Yes. Please stay, Mr. Watson. I need all the assistance I can get.

Watson: As you wish.

Holmes: Have you contacted your mother-in-law?

Emma: Yes. She told me she had last seen Peter before he left for home. Holmes: Hmm, interesting. Watson and I will go there today to question Peters mother further and take note of anything out of the ordinary.

Emma: I would go with you, but I have a meeting to attend to. Holmes: Thats ok. So what strange occurrences have you experienced? Emma: After Peter had gone missing, Ive been receiving money in my mail. Ive received two envelopes with $1000 in each. I dont know who sent them. There is no address on the envelope, I kept the money because I believe they may have something to do with my husband. Just yesterday, I received another mail. This time, there was no money in it, but a letter. (envelopes in her purse)

Holmes: Did you bring them with you? Emma: Yes. Theyre right here. (Hands Holmes the envelopes)

Holmes: (Examines the envelopes) Hmm. No fingerprints. WATSON! Read the letter. (Hands Watson the letter)

Watson: (Reads letter)..... Dear Mrs. Stone, I have sent you envelopes enclosed with money for you to support yourself. Please do not contact the police. Emma: Since I wasnt able to contact the police, I reached out to you Mr. Holmes. I heard that you are an excellent consultant detective.

Holmes: You can say that again.

Emma: I heard that--

Holmes: I was kidding, Mrs. Stone. I will contact you as soon as I finish visiting Peters mothers home. For now, just keep your eye out for anything that is out of the ordninary. May we keep the letter for further observation?

Emma: Yes, Mr. Holmes. Go ahead. Thank you so much Mr. Holmes, and you too Dr. Watson..

Francisco: Thank you Mr. Holmes.

(Emma, Francisco, and Selena leaves the scene)

SCENE 5 Kimmy and Lizzy (Holmes and Watson are discussing the case) CHARACTERS - Holmes and Watson PROPS - four envelopes, three filled with money and one with the letter from the anonymous person,

[Scene takes place in the living room of Holmes and Watson apartment-they begin to discuss the case, Holmes walking around the apartment]

Holmes: (examines the letters closely) Watson, what do make out of these letters?

Watson: (begins to examine letters)

Holmes: Do you see the different shapes of the certain letters?

Watson: Yes, but what could this mean?

Holmes: I do not want to make any assumptions. I will make my conclusion after I review all the information. Watson: Well perhaps someone in Emmas family is giving her money because they feel bad about the disappearance of her husband

Holmes: Valid guess, but there is no way to be certain until we go through all the evidence. [Watson staring across the classroom, watches Emma walk down the street]

Holmes: Is something wrong?

Watson: (smitten look on his face) I see Emma and it appears that a man is following her.

Holmes: Quickly Watson. (runs outside) That man is stalking her.

(Watson goes down and Emma and the man have disappeared) Holmes: Theyre gone. Watson, get ready. We are leaving for Peters moms apartment in five minutes.

(Holmes exit too propsmen put all the props needed for the next scene + dead bodies)

SCENE 6 Dan (Crime scene, include everything) Scene: Door, Living Room, Kitchen SET: Fake blood and makeup (Sol and Elysia) Watson: Here we are at 123 Safe Street, Peters mothers house. (Knocks on door)

(The door opens.)

[Face the door backdrop and then face the audience after]

Holmes: It appears that someone has broken into the house. Watson: How can you deduce that? We havent even gone inside?

[Point at the imaginary door]

Holmes: Notice the scratch marks on the lock, it has obviously been tampered with. Also, i saw tire marks leaving the parking lot. Judging by how fresh they looked, I could deduce that the marks were made a sports car within the last 3 hours. I suggest we go inside.

(enter Apartment) Watson: My God. (Sees the clients mother-in-law on the floor)

Holmes: Well this just got interesting. (Bends down and starts examining the body)

(Watson walks into the next room) Watson: Holmes! I think this is Emmas Husband! His brains are scattered on the floor in the next room. (Holmes is still examining the mother-in-laws corpse)

Holmes: There are multiple stab wounds, each approximately 30 millimeters across, the approximate size of a kitchen knife. (Holmes examines Peters corpse next)

Holmes: Peter recently got married, but his wedding ring is missing.. Watson: Theres also a knife missing in the kitchen.

(Holmes stands up and looks around for the knife )

Holmes: Whoever committed the crime was wise in taking the knife, but he may have left fingerprints behind. Luckily for us, he was sloppy in his retreat. Look, theres a corsage in the corner.

Watson: What does it mean? Do you know who did it?

Holmes: No, but the murderer has just given us a valuable piece of information. Watson, what else can we deduce from the scene?

(Watson starts thinking)

Watson: There was a struggle. The curtains are ripped and the furniture is shifted. Also there are footprints exiting the scene.

Holmes: Excellent work Watson. (Examines prints) There is two sets of male foot prints here. One belongs to Peter, who is approximately 65. The other belongs to a man whos about 55 to 60.

Watson: How can you deduce that?

Holmes: It is true that the shoe prints look identical but notice how set of the prints left less of an impression on the ground. Based on the height to weight ratio, the lighter set of footprints belong to a man with a height between 55 and 60.

(Police Sirens go off)

(Danger comes in with Lizzy behind him)

Holmes: (Sarcasm) Oh joy. The great Detective Danger has arrived. Danger: Holmes! Amazing how youre always at the crime scene before I am. Maybe one of these days you might actually be the murderer. Holmes: Trust me. If I was the murderer, youd never know. And who might this be? (Points at Lizzy)

Danger: This young lady is a trainee. Im showing her the ropes and what it takes to be a great detective. But enough about that, lets see what we have here. (Walks around) Two people are dead, one of them stabbed and the other one died of a head trauma.

Holmes: (Sarcasm) What is your conclusion?

Danger: Well obviously the woman over there accidently killed the man over an argument. She then felt guilty and took her own life. Good job gentlemen, the case is closed, we can all go home.

Watson: But what about the murder weapon?

Danger: Ah yes, the murder weapon, I totally forgot about that. (Examines the body) Odd, theres no knife.

Lizzy: Perhaps the man stabbed the woman multiple times, threw away the knife, and then took his own life.

Danger: Brilliant! You have just single-handedly solved the case. You are getting a raise.

Watson: (Scratches his head and tries not to laugh)

Holmes: Watson and I are going to go home now and review this case. Danger, i think its about time I connected the facts together and formed a conclusion for you.

(ALL THE CHARACTERS STAY IN THE SCENE)

INTERLUDE: WE ASK THE OTHER CLASS TO SOLVE THE CASE (Elysia)

(ALL CHARACTERS EXIT EXCEPT HOLMES and WATSON)

SCENE 7 Esteban Holmes and Sherlock are at (221B Baker Street), Holmes explains to Watson how he solved the case. Watson: What is your take on the case Holmes? I doubt Dangers conclusion was correct at all. The man can barely tie his shoes. (laughs sarcastically)

Holmes: Well the case is very obvious, Francisco said that he helped Emma and her husband plan the perfect wedding, however, as innocent as that may sound, it was very obvious that the best man was not just the husbands best friend. He was also having an affair with Emma. I noticed that when we first met Francisco, he was wearing a ring. A ring that matches Emmas wedding ring. It was not a mere coincidence that when we found Peter at his moms apartment, his ring was missing. He came off as friendly, but given the opportunity to get the husband alone, he would attempt to scare him off to have Mrs. Stone to himself. However, on one night, the best man followed Peter to 123 Safe Street. After breaking into the home, he grabbed a kitchen knife and began to threaten Peter, he pushed Peter and Peter hit Peters head against the door frame.

Watson: What about the step-mother? How did she die? Also who is sending the money to Mrs. Stone?

Holmes: After realizing what had happened to Peter, panic set in. The stepmother left her bedroom because she heard something, seeing her son dead on the floor and a man with a knife, she began to scream, the murderer quickly jumped onto her and forced her to stop yelling, there was a struggle between the two, and forgetting he had the knife in his hand, he accidentally had cut her multiple times. She bled out and passed. He took the murder weapon and fled. Watson: Thats awful.. but that doesnt answer who is sending her money!

Holmes: Upon further investigation, I deducted that the murderer was not alone. Someone else had drove him to the house. The brother was the driver. Emma: Before Peter left to his mothers, he went to drop off a thank you present to the best man for his contribution in planning the wedding.

Holmes: The brother of the best man was obviously in on it, however he did not know that the scare his brother had planned would turn into homicide. The brother felt so guilty he could only send her money to compensate for her loss, he could not rat out his brother.

Watson: DAMN son, you really are a genius Holmes. We better go tell Danger so we could begin tracking down the killer.

(Holmes takes out his phone and calls Danger) Holmes: [to Danger] Meet us at my apartment in 221B Baker St. Were going to need you to help arrest the criminals.

(Danger on stage [across Holmes and Watson] while saying his lines so that the audience can see him) Danger: You know who committed the crime? Alright Ill be there to apprehend those responsible.

(Runs to the other side where Holmes and Watson are)

SCENE 8 Becca and Sue

Watson: Where are we going to find them at Holmes? Holmes: Were heading to Emmas house. The best man is bound to be there.

[all three characters approach house]

[Watson points at the parking lot in front of the house] Watson: Look Holmes! Theres an extra car parked outside her driveway!

Holmes: Yes, it would have to be the best man, who else would be accustomed to parking in a young womans driveway if he had not been there so many previous times. And look whos in the car waiting. Getem Danger! [opens drivers door and handcuffs the best mans brother] Danger: Youre under arrest for being involved in the murder of Peter Stone.

[Vincent struggling to avoid the handcuffs]

Vincent: Woah, go easy there. Danger: Relax, the handcuffs are only tight because theyre new. Theyll stretch after you wear them for awhile.

[the three walk up to house, and hears Emma and best man screaming at each other] Holmes: Hes going to try to escape through the back door, so be ready Danger. [Barges in to house] Stay back Emma, your husbands best man is responsible for the death of your husband and mother-in-law!

[Best man runs to the back door--Danger catches him and cuffs him] Danger: No point in running, youll only go to jail tired.

Watson: Emma are you okay??? Emma: [sits down] I think now I will be. Francisco just told me that it was all an accident and that I should run off with him.

Best man: Let me go it was an accident!!! [struggling]

Danger: Well your accident just landed you and your brother behind bars.

Holmes: You can take it from here Danger. Watson: But Holmes! Youre going to let Danger get all the credit! You solved this case.

Holmes: Do not worry Watson. Lets go home. I have my hookah waiting for me.

[Holmes walks away; Watson follows after]
