DELHI JUDICIAL SERVICE

EXAMINATION
Instructions PART-I Delhi Judicial Service Examination will be held in two successive stages: (i) (ii) Delhi Judicial Service Preliminary Examination (objective type with 25% negative marking) for selection for the main examination, and Delhi Judicial Service Main Examination (Written) for selection of candidates for calling for Viva voice. The Preliminary Examination will be a screening test and will consist of one paper of multiple objective type carrying maximum of 200 marks. In the preliminary examination, general knowledge and aptitude of the candidate, candidates power of expression, flare in English, knowledge of objective type legal problems and their solutions covering Constitution of India, Code of Civil Procedure, Code of Criminal Procedure, Indian Penal Code, Contract Act, Partnership Act, Principles governing Arbitration Law, Evidence Act, Specific Relief Act and Limitation Act, etc., will be included. Minimum qualifying marks in the preliminary examination shall be 60% for general candidates and 55% for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes candidates. However, the number of candidates to be admitted to the main examination (written) will be ten times the total number of vacancies advertised. The marks obtained in the preliminary examination by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the main examination (written) will not be counted for determining their final order of merit. The main examination (written) will be as per the syllabus prescribed in Part II of the instruction. Part- II The Main Examination (Written) will include the following subjects (each subject to carry the number of marks shown against it)

General Knowledge and Language: This paper shall comprise of two sections. Section I: General Knowledge: This is to test the candidates knowledge of current affairs etc. (100 marks) Section II: Language (Essay, Translation and Precise Writing): This is to test the candidates knowledge and power of expression in English. Credit will be given both for substance and expression. Conversely deduction will be made for bad expression, faults of grammar and misuse of words etc. There will be two passages for translations on in English which will be required to be translated into Hindi (in Devnagri Script). The second passage in Hindi (in Devnagri Script) shall be required to be translated into English. (150 marks)

Viva-Voce will carry 150 marks. Only such candidates will be called for vivavoce who have obtained 40% marks in each written paper and 50% marks in the aggregate except in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories i.e. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Physically

Handicapped (Blind/Low Vision) (mobility not to be restricted)/Orthopedically in whose case the qualifying marks shall be 35% in each written paper and 45% in the aggregate. (2) A candidate of general category must secure minimum 50% marks and a candidate of reserved category i.e. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Physically Handicapped (Blind/Low Vision) (mobility not to be restricted) Orthopedically must secure minimum 45% marks in viva-voce to be eligible for being recommended for appointment to the service. The marks obtained in the viva-voce will be added to the marks obtained in the main Examination (written) and the candidates position will depend on the aggregate of both.

HARYANA JUDICIAL SERVICE


Eligibility Criteria Age Limitation SC/ST/BC : LL.B. Degree : 21 years and must not be more than 40 years on : 5 years relaxation (Upto 45 years)

Scheme of Examination: The examination shall be conducted in three stages namely:(i) Preliminary Examination (ii) Main Examination, (iii) Viva Voce. The Preliminary examination will be of the duration of two hours and will have 120 questions. Each correct answer will carry four marks and for

every wrong answer one mark will be deducted. However, no credit or discredit will be given for the questions not attempted. Papers and syllabus for Preliminary Examination: Questions in Preliminary examination shall be from the syllabus prescribed for the main examination in terms of board rubric of five papers for the main examination and viva voca. Candidates shall be expected to have a general and basic knowledge of the main subjects and also the ability to answer questions on current events of National and international importance, Indian legal and constitutional History and governance. Candidates shall also be tested for their analytical skills and aptitude. The standard of questions shall be of graduate level. Syllabus a. Note: The questions set will relate mainly to practical matters such as the framing of charges and issues, the methods of dealing with the evidence of witnesses, the writing of judgment and the conduct of cases generally but will not be restricted to them. Paper-V: Law-III (Penal, Revenue & Local Laws) Questions set will be restricted to the field covered by (i) Indian Penal Code 200 Marks

The suitability of the candidate for employment in the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service will be tested with reference to his merit giving due regard to his ability, character, personality and physique.

UTTARAKHAND JUDICIAL SERVICE


Eligibility Criteria Age Limitation : A candidate should possess Degree of Bachelor of Law : 35 years

The Preliminary Examination will consist of one paper for which the syllabus is given below: The Preliminary Exam Paper will be divided into two parts: It will be objective type test in the following subject Part-I: General Knowledge 50 Marks

It will include day to day happenings around India and the world particularly in legal spheres. The questions may relate mainly to International Law,

Neutrality, Recent Legislation pronouncements particularly Indian Constitution, law and development in legal aspects. But will not be confined to this only. Part-II It will cover the following Acts and Laws: (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) (v) (vi) Transfer of Property Act Principles of Hindu Law Principles of Muslim Law Evidence Act Code of Criminal Procedure Indian Penal Code 150 Marks

This paper is designed to test the candidates knowledge of the reactions to what is happening in India and the world, generally at the present day, particularly in the legal sphere and also his power of expression, question, the answer to which should be in easy form, will relate mainly to: (i) (ii) (iii) Jurisprudence International Law, Neutrality Recent legislation particularly Indian Constitutional Law and development, especially on their legal aspect and so on, but will not be confined to them.
