Week 3 Lesson: 4 Day: 3 Objective: Students will be exposed to technology while working on their final drafts of their poem

or lyrics. They will continue to work independently to complete their write up and then work with a partner to peer edit. Content Standards: Common Core standards: RI.2.3 Describe the connection between a series of historical events, scientific ideas or concepts, or steps in technical procedures in a text. RI.2.7 Explain how specific images (e.g., a diagram showing how a machine works) contribute to and clarify a text. W.2.2 Write informative/explanatory texts in which they introduce a topic, use facts and definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or section. W.2.6 With guidance and support from adults, use a variety of digital tools to produce and publish writing, including in collaboration with peers. W.2.7 Participate in shared research and writing projects (e.g., read a number of books on a single topic to produce a report; record science observations). SL.2.5 Create audio recordings of stories or poems; add drawings or other visual displays to stories or recounts of experiences when appropriate to clarify ideas, thoughts, and feelings. Notebook App (Pre-installed on iPad) Instructional Directions:

1. Explain to students they will continue to finalize their draft of their poem or song lyrics, by using the outline they created the previous day. 2. Students need to make sure the information they included in their outline is accurate and includes all of the answers to the questions on the shared Google doc. They need to go through and make sure the outline of what they want to use include all of the information ask on the shared Google doc. 3. Students can independently begin writing their poem or lyrics. 4. Once students have completed a draft of their write up they will then work with a partner to edit and review the information is correct. The students will exchange iPads so their peers can give them feedback on any information that is missing and should be included. 5. Students will then return their iPads and add or correct any information in their poem or lyric to create their final draft.
