I see the huge mountain with its massive grey cliffs while snow wafts about. The wind whistles all around me as I walk away from the warm cave with spear in hand, and head towards the forest for hunting. I feel the frigid air against my face as if I were standing in a freezer. I run through the cold blanket of snow, feeling the prickly pine needles brush past my face. I breathe in the thin air of the high altitude mountain. I can hear the hooting of an owl as I notice that night is well on its way. I run back through the cold knee-deep snow back to the cave for safety. I hear wolves howl and I begin to run faster. Up ahead I smell the smoke from the re that I made the day before. I take a bite of the succulent venison I caught yesterday. I look up as if I were to see the whole of the mountain, the great mountain that I live on.

by. Farming is near impossible. The ground is hard and rocky and the air is too cold. Even if you managed to plant crops they would perish due to the extreme climate. They may be ripped from the ground by storms or by oods or succumb to the freezing temperatures. Without the ability to farm we would be forced to hunt, which may pose its own problems. Even if we could nd ani5

2.! Water is not very hard to come by in the mountains. Though it is found easily, it is usually contaminated. You must nd a way to purify the water so that you can drink it. During the winter it would be even harder to get water. The climate is cold and the air may reach freezing temperatures, thus freezing any available water. We would need to swiftly obtain the resources to

make enclosed farms. There can be mud or stonewalls to keep out the cold and the roof could be made of animal skin that could be opened or closed depending on the weather. We could also grow plants that can grow in high altitudes such

as olives and melons. Like the Mesopotamians, we can also build complex irrigation systems (Frey 37). This can help us to water our plants. Hunting is also a problem if there is ever a shortage of animals, then we could starve. Also, some other carnivorous animals might compete for our food. To solve this problem we could domesticate

your environment to meet your civilizations needs. An example of modication is when you are when farmers make earth steps to farm easier on mountainous land.

Water in the mountains is not hard to nd.

Though it is not hard to nd, the water is usually contaminated. There is a fairly easy solution to this problem; you can boil the water using re. By boiling the water, you can disinfect it so that it is mostly safe to drink. During winter most of the water will have frozen solid. This problem also has a fairly easy solution all you have to do is light a re next to the frozen water so that it melts and you can drink it. Also, you can build levees like the Mesopotamians to block water in deeper pools so that it cannot freeze as easily (Frey 46).

This type of government would be wonderful because everyone gets his say in political affairs and power is distributed equally. ! !

government is not the best type because citizens do not get much of a say in the government. This could lead to rebellions or even wars between the government and the people. ! ! Rome like Athens was rst a monarchy

ruled by Etruscan kings. The Patricians advised these kings. Later on they drove the Etruscan kings out changed their government to a republic. But that was only the beginning of Romes problems. The plebeians who made up most of Romes population were angry at the patricians at their lack of power. The struggle between the plebeians and the patricians was known as the Conict of Orders.(Frey 319). In which the plebeians eventually left Rome altogether. Eventually the patricians shared the power evenly with the

Sparta used an oligarchy; a form of government when power was in the hands of a few. Like Athens, Sparta had an assembly. But the important decisions were made by a much smaller group called the council of elders.(Frey 265). The Council of Elders consisted of 2 kings and 28 elders. The elders made all of the laws and Spartan Assembly could only vote yes or no. This type of

mistakes that Julius Caesar made. First off we must give the people what they want and make them feel as if they are part of the government. If the people feel as if they are being commanded around by someone they will rebel and they will get what they want, but not without severe consequences. We also must learn not to have people in our government that act superior to the rest when actually they are not any more powerful than any other person in the government. Caesar became king in all but name. He had his name stamped on coins, put his statue in the temple and wore royal purple. not believe that he was supreme ruler but that he thought there were beings even more powerful than him. The leaders of Rarlj should never believe that they have supreme command. They should do their best to help the citizens and their civilization and not take power for granted so they are not murdered, driven out of power or imprisoned. Augustus Caesar was a very paranoid man, he created the Praetorian Guard These nine special units, made up of 500 to 1,000 soldiers each, were solely responsible for protecting him.(Armstrong 1) The leaders of Rarlj will never have these many guards following them. This is because the citizens of Rarlj will feel insignicant when one person seems so important and may want to be the person that is so important

In 476 C.E., the last of the Roman emperors in the west was overthrown. (Decline of the Western Roman Empire) There are many reasons for the decline of Rome but the most inuential reason was Political Corruption. The emporor was usually determined by the Praetorian Guard, the emperors private army, who usually sold the throne to the highest bidder. The emperors that were selected were usually assassinated. Another big reason for the fall of the western Roman empire was unemployment. Many farmers could not compete with the wealthy land owners that used slave labor, so they lost their farms. They then moved to the city. These people were not only a burden but also had little to do but contribute to an ever increasing crime rate.(Decline of the Western Roman Empire). These problems and many others lead to the decline of Rome in 476 C.E. The civilization of Rarlj will prevent the problems that led to the decline of Rome by setting down rm laws against political corruption, unemployment, decline in morals and values, urban decay, inferior technology, and military spending. In order to prevent political corruption in the civilization of Rarlj will elect a new emporor every 5 years and may serve as as many terms in ofce as they want. The emporor will be voted into the ofce using direct democracy. The emporor will also be highly protected with around 5 highly trained guards so assassinations do not occur. The people will be able to vote on every matter except taxes and laws that may affect other people. There will be an equation

based on the money coming in and out of the government to determine the income and taxes implied onto the people. Unemployment will be solved by creating new jobs to do, designing new technology, building things and repairing things. The higher class will not be allowed to have huge parties during a time of need and they will be taxed more. Also people that are making under 5 dollars a week will not be taxed. By following these laws the civilization of Ralrj will live a long and prosperous rein.

But if you do bad deeds you will get bad Karma and may be reborn into a lower class. Because of this Roger will be determined to help the boy so he can get good Karma.
