Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:: +ection 1. Sec. 4 of Republic !ct "o. #$%&' other(ise )no(n as the *ocal +overnment Code of $,,$' is hereby amended to read as follo(s: -Sec. 4 . .erm of office. / 0a1 .he term of office of all elective officials elected after the effectivity of this Code shall be three 0 1 years' starting from noon of 2une &' $,,3 or such date as may be provided for by la(' e4cept that of elective barangay officials and members of the sangguniang )abataan: Provided' .hat all local officials first elected during the local elections immediately follo(ing the ratification of the $,5# Constitution shall serve until noon of 2une &' $,,3. -0b1 "o local elective official shall serve for more than three 0 1 consecutive terms in the same position. 6oluntary renunciation of the office for any length of time shall not be considered as an interruption in the continuity of service for the full term for (hich the elective official concerned (as elected.

-0c1 .he term of barangay officials and members of the sangguniang )abataan shall be for five 071 years' (hich shall begin after the regular election of barangay officials on the second Monday of May $,,#:Provided' .hat the sangguniang )abataan members (ho (ere elected in the May $,,% elections shall serve until the ne4t regular election of barangay officials.+ection 2. .he provisions of this !ct shall apply to the incumbent barangay officials and members of the sangguniang )abataan. +ection 0. !ll la(s' decrees' e4ecutive orders' letters of instructions' letters of implementations' rules and regulations or parts thereof inconsistent (ith any provisions of this !ct are hereby repealed' modified or amended accordingly. +ection 4. .his !ct shall ta)e effect after fifteen 0$71 days from its publication in at least t(o 031 ne(spapers of general circulation.
