Sherlock denies the fact that he asked for a lodger and the Doctor admits that he was lying, they start to talk about the murders and The Doctor and Clara also agree to help with the investigation. Sherlock states that they would need to see the body of Jacob Hobbs, the first victim on this strange murder, The Doctor and Clara run back to the TARDIS whilst Castiel takes Sam and Dean to St. Barts Hospital. The three examine the body, where Castiel finds that he had died through being suffocated, it is then that Sam notices strange engravings upon his neck which Castiel states is Enochian, the three then agree that Crowley knew they were going to be looking and puts the symbol as a warning to stop, though the trio continue to search ignoring the warning given.

Narrative Structures
What is narrative? Narrative means to follow a story, so a film needs to have narrative otherwise it wont make any sense.

What is a linear narrative? Linear narrative is where there is a beginning, middle and an end, it is the most common narrative within films.

What is a non-linear narrative? Non-linear narrative means that it starts backward, so instead of a linear narrative where it goes in order non-linear is where it starts backward.

As he takes on the role of the killer he says to himself: "this my design," referring to the nature of the killer. These abilities come at a cost, however, as Will is haunted by his visions from the various murder scenes he has investigated. As a "consulting detective," he favours reason and logic above all else and makes very few personal attachments beyond those that benefit him. He calls himself a "high functioning sociopath" because he does not make friends or understand emotions very well, beyond what can be studied. He would make a superior criminal if he were so inclined, but instead he assists the police, and Detective Inspector Greg Lestrade, on their most baffling cases. Because he has no interest in emotions, he makes no effort to protect those of other people and often comes across as rude, blunt or even cruel, especially to Molly Hooper, the coroner, who has a crush on him. In addition to Molly, the other people in the world he cares about are Mrs. Hudson, his landlady, who

tolerates him keeping science experiments in the fridge and shooting holes in the walls; Detective Inspector Greg Lestrade with New Scotland Yard and Dr. John Watson, who starts out as his roommate and quickly becomes his assistant and chronicler on cases. Sherlock has a brother, Mycroft, from whom he is estranged. Mycroft goes so far as to refer to himself as Sherlock's arch enemy, yet they do help each other out when it is absolutely necessary. Sherlock's actual nemesis is master criminal James Moriarty, who is as intelligent as Sherlock, but uses his wits for crime. Sherlock doesn't have girlfriends, but is intrigued by Irene Adler, an intelligent criminal and high end escort. Background: Lives at 221B Baker Street. In the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories Sherlock used cocaine, in this version his addictive vice is nicotine, which he is trying to give up, although he thinks it keeps his brain "active." Watson begins blogging about his adventures with Sherlock, earning them a small online following. Watson tries to have a private life once he starts living with Sherlock, but Sherlock often intrudes or forces him to cancel plans. They are often mistaken for a gay couple, which Watson attempts to protest the first few times before giving up. He becomes very attached to Sherlock and eventually

considers him his best friend. He frequently is forced to apologize or explain Sherlock's brusque manner and abruptness. He occasionally acts as a go-between, not always willingly, for Sherlock's brother, Mycroft Holmes, as he attempts to corral or protect his brother. Background: He has an older sister named Harriet, whom he calls "Harry." She's an alcoholic. He was trained at St. Bartholomew's Hospital as a British Army doctor and served as a Captain in the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers. He was shot in the shoulder while serving in Afghanistan. Sam Winchester: Name: Samuel Winchester Age: 25 Occupation: Hunter Actor: Jared Padalecki about: Samuel "Sam" Winchester is the son of John and
Mary Winchester & younger brother of Dean Winchester. He was born May 2nd, 1983. He is named after his maternal grandfather (Samuel Campbell). His mother was killed on the night of his 6 month birthday when a demon engulfed her in flames. Sam then lived on the move with his father and brother learning to hunt supernatural beings. As Sam grew older the strain between him and his father intensified upon Sam's discovery of his brother and father's hunting of evil beings. After a while, he decided he no longer wanted to hunt and eventually left to go to Stanford University. It was there that he met his girlfriend Jessica Moore who was later killed by the very same demon that killed his mother. After this second tragedy in his life, he decided to team up with his brother Dean once again and hunt all supernatural evil in hopes of one day finding and killing the demon that plagued his life. Along the way, Sam began to realize he had certain powers within him. He began to have visions of the future and a kind of telekinesis that allowed him to move objects with his mind. Unsure of the extent of his powers and how to use them, Sam now lives on the road with his brother in

search of the demon and answers to questions of his new abilities. After they killed yellow eyes, his powers were seemingly gone, but they were only dormant. He was killed by Jake Talley in 2007 after all of the special kids were gathered in an abandoned town in order for yellow eyes to figure out which of the children were the strongest. Sam was later revived when Dean sold his soul to a crossroads demon for Sam's life. After being unable to save his brother from his ultimate fate, Sam hunted erratically all while he searched for Lilith, The demon that held Dean's contract to hell. While Sam has a very gentle nature and kind spirit, Dean's death made him harder and it also opened him up to being manipulated by a demon to access the powers that yellow eyes gave to him. Even after Dean's return from hell, Sam was hellbent on revenge which led him to drinking demon blood to further his ability of being able to pull demons out of their human host. This allowed him to not only save the human (if their body was okay) but it eventually allowed him to kill upper level demons that were otherwise indestructible. This ability was used to ultimately kill Lilith and help free Lucifer from his cage in hell. Just as Dean was intended to be the vessel for the archangel, Michael. Sam was intended to be the vessel for Lucifer. It was discovered that the source of Sam's abilities was due to the fact that he was infected with demon blood by the demon that killed his mother and his girlfriend. Beliefs: Sam believes that with all the evil that is out there, there has to be something good as well. He prayed every day and had faith in things such as heaven and angels.

Likes: Sam loves his family above all things. Sam also is well read and well spoken. He enjoys researching and he is full of facts about the lures of almost ever kind of evil the boys meet. Dislikes: Sam does not like when people call him "Sammy", unless it is his brother Dean and definitely he hates clowns. Disadvantages: Sam has a high regard for human life. Him and Dean are constantly arguing over how to manage hard situations. Dean's theory is to shoot first, ask questions later. While Sam is known to be more trusting and hopeful of a positive result. Family: John Winchester (father, deceased), Mary Winchester (mother, deceased), Adam Winchester (half brother--resurrected by Zachariah), Dean Winchester (full brother, living) Samuel Campbell (Paternal Grandfather) is Resurrected by Crowley but killed again when he was infected by an evil worm that was created by The Mother of All. Sam also has a handful of cousins from the Campbell side: Christian, Gwen that are all killed.

Dean Winchester: Name: Dean Winchester Age: 35 Occupation: Hunter Actor: Jensen Ackles about: Dean was born on January, 24 1979. Mary Winchester, Dean's mother, was killed by Azazel "The Yellow-Eyed Demon" when she interrupted him while he was feeding demon blood to Sam. Azazel pinned Mary to the ceiling, where she suffered from bleeding stomach wound and was consumed in flames. Upon witnessing this, John, the boys' father, handed the infant Sam to Dean as the nursery burned and told him to take Sam and leave. John left their home in Lawrence, Kansas, with Dean and Sam before Dean's fifth birthday. When Dean was 6 or 7, John took Dean out shooting for the first time, using bottles as target practice. According to Dean, he bulls eyed every one of them. Dean has cited this story as one of his fonder memories of his father. On an occasion when John was hunting a Shtriga in Wisconsin and left Sam and Dean alone in a hotel room, Dean got bored and went out. When he came back, he found the Shtriga attacking Sammy. John

returned in time to scare the Shtriga off. For a long time Dean was haunted by his failure to defend his brother. In 1991, when Dean was in sixth grade, he made his first sawed-off shotgun. Once when 12 year-old Dean was left to babysit Sam (8 years old) while John was on a hunt, Sam began to interrogate Dean about what it was that their dad actually did. When Sam moved on to ask about their mother, Dean got angry and stormed out. Upon his return, Sam revealed to Dean that he had found and read their dad's journal, and demanded to know if monsters are real. Dean finally resigned himself to telling Sam the truth. It is hinted at that Dean still believed at this point that his father is a "superhero" and continually excused his flaws while the tension between Sam and John was clearly starting to take root. Disappointed with John's lying and absence, Sam gave Dean a Christmas present intended for his father: the amulet. During the summer of 1997 John, Dean, and Sam were hunting a werewolf. In November 1997, John "parked" the kids in a small town in Iowa where they attended Truman High School. While Sam was having trouble with a bully named Dirk, Dean got a girlfriend, Amanda. He became uncomfortable when she asked him to meet her parents.

When she caught Dean cheating on her with another girl, she challenged him, charging that his 'cool' persona was just a cover for his pathetically sad loneliness. Around 1998, Dean and John left Sam alone to go hunt a Kitsune. At this time, Dean also gave Sam advice over the phone on how to talk to girls. In 1998 or 1999, Dean went on a road trip that was supposed to be "5 states, 5 days" while Sam was "in Orlando with dad, wrapping up that banshee thing". However, he spent most of his time in Lisa Braeden's loft. Sometime between 2001-2005. Sam left for Stanford. While there, he became estranged from Dean and his father and didn't speak to them for at least a couple of years. During this time, Dean met Cassie Robinson while he and John were in Athens, Ohio, for a hunt. She and Dean dated for a couple of weeks. Before Dean left, he told Cassie the 'big family secret' about hunting. It was then that Cassie promptly called him 'nuts' and dumped him. Dean also hunted a Vetala by himself during this period.

Castiel Name: Castiel Age: unknown Occupation: Protector. Actor: Misha Collins About: Castiel is an Angel of
Heaven, who manifested on Earth inside his Vessel, Jimmy Novak. Many angels laid siege to Hell to rescue Dean, but it was Castiel who ultimately pulled Dean out. According to Castiel, he did so "because God commanded it". His hand print was burned into Dean's left shoulder. Castiel is amongst a group of angels who manifest on Earth to stop the breaking of the The 66 Seals which will release Lucifer and start the Apocalypse. Over time he develops an empathy for the Winchesters, in particular Dean. When he learns that Michael actually intends for Lucifer to be released so he can kill him, Castiel tries to warn Dean, but is punished. Personality: Because he was an angel, Castiel initially expressed almost no emotion towards humans, and had little room for disobedience or feelings, as he was driven to follow his orders, although he does reveal some doubts about the morality of his orders, expressing an appreciation for the beauty of humans as God's creations. As he spends more time with Dean, he develops empathy and affection for him, and eventually for those close to him, and humans in general.

Crowley: Name: Crowley age: unknown occupation: King of Hell Actor: Mark Sheppard About: Crowley is a Crossroads demon--formerly the King of the Crossroads and Lilith's right hand man-who assumed leadership of Hell after he helped Sam and Dean re-imprison Lucifer in the cage. His meatsuit belonged to a unnamed "moderately successful" New York literary agent. Crowley's apparent reason for helping Dean is his fear and dislike of Lucifer, whom he believes will wipe out all demons when the apocalypse is over. After becoming the new King of Hell, Crowley tried to expand his power by aligning himself with the angel, Castiel who started the new Civil War in Heaven. It is Crowley who proposes to Castiel the plan to locate Purgatory and share the souls of the monsters there. With the help of Sam, Dean, Sammuel Campbell, and other hunters Crowley and Castiel round up Alpha Monsters--the first of their kind--in an attempt to gather information about the location of purgatory. He was thought killed when Castiel burned his bones, however, it is later revealed that Crowley faked his death with Castiel's

assistance. Castiel eventually reneges on their deal, causing Crowley to ally with the arch angel Raphael. After Castiel opens Purgatory and absorbs the souls there, proclaiming himself a god, he kills Raphael with a snap of the fingers and allows Crowley to escape saying he has plans for him. After the Leviathans are released, Crowley tries to ally himself with Dick Roman, the head of the Leviathan. Roman rejects him and goes on to state how killing all demonkind is on their to-do list. Crowley later briefly allies with the Winchesters against the Leviathans, helping to defeat them, but then goes back to be an enemy. His recent endeavors include kidnapping future prophets in an attempt to read the word of God and torturing angels.

Jim Moriarty: Name: James Moriarty age: Unknown Occupation: consulting criminal Actor: Andrew Scott About: James Moriarty is a master criminal and Sherlock
Holmes' nemesis. They enjoy matching wits against each other but Sherlock recognizes that Moriarty is extremely dangerous. Moriarty resists killing Sherlock on at least one occasion because he likes the challenge of Sherlock trying to catch him. Moriarty has connections throughout the criminal underworld, and calls himself a "consulting criminal." There doesn't seem to be anyone he can't pay off to achieve his plans. He is ruthless and cruel and enjoys toying with people. He doesn't hesitate to use innocent people in his plans as pawns, killing them to entertain himself. When he first meets Sherlock he uses a disguise that fools the great detective, which isn't easy to do. He is extremely patient and willing to invest years in his plans to see them pay off, even going so far as establishing a small acting career as a cover identity. He says Sherlock's weakness is that he always wants everything to be clever, so he sometimes misses the more obvious solutions.

The Doctor Name: The Doctor Age: About 1000 Occupation: Time Traveller Actor: Matt Smith About: The Doctor is the last of an ancient, nearly God-like race called the Time Lords from the planet Gallifrey. He fled his home world with his granddaughter, Susan, to explore the universe. He travels in a living time machine known as the TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimension in Space), which he stole from the Time Lords and which appears like a small London police box on the outside but which has nearly infinite dimensions on the inside. Specifics about The Doctor, including his name and other details, are shrouded in secrecy within the world of the show; only Samantha Jones, River Song and possibly Clara Oswald are believed to know it. According to Dorium Maldovar and the Silence, the oldest and most dangerous question in the universe was "Doctor Who?" The Doctor's true name was apparently the answer, and if it is answered the Doctor's timeline could be accessed and corrupted, which could in turn lead to the destruction of the universe by reversing all of the times the Doctor has saved it.

He has displayed some medical knowledge and been described as a doctor of everything. The Doctor is at least 900 years old. It has been said he can regenerate only 12 times, for 13 lives, but since this limit was set by the Time Lords, and because the series is now on its eleventh Doctor, this number is now seen as flexible. The Doctor himself once joked he could regenerate 507 times. He has two hearts, and a respiratory bypass system which allows him to go without air for a short while. His relationship with his traveling companions is general platonic, with two notable exceptions.

Clara Oswin Oswald Name: Clara Oswin Oswald Age: Unknown Occupation: Time Traveller assistant Actress: Jenna Coleman about: Clara Oswald is the occasional "travelling assistant" to the Eleventh Doctor. The mysterious woman who is first introduced in "Asylum of the Daleks" as "Oswin Oswald". In this episode she is found out to be a human-Dalek with her old memories who hacks the entire Dalek race and wipes their memory of the Doctor. Clara is then reintroduced in "The Snowmen" as merely "Clara", working two jobs, one as a nanny and the other as a barmaid. Clara chases down the Doctor several times and forces him into returning to his former ways of saving the world. She also has a history of saving the Doctor. The Doctor thinks of her as "the only mystery worth solving."Clara Oswald was born in Lancashire, England. She would often lose things, then close her eyes and locate the item. Clara Oswin Oswald is an anagram for "A window across all".

Molly Hooper: Name: Molly Hooper Age: 31 Occupation: Pathologist Actress: Louise Brealey

About: Molly Hooper works in the morgue at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London and has a huge, obvious crush on Sherlock Holmes, which he often exploits when working on cases. She is mousy and insecure and remains infatuated with Sherlock no matter how many times he insults her by being overly honest. For a brief time she dates a coworker, Jim, who works in the IT department. She brings him around in front of Sherlock to get his attention, but Sherlock infuriates her by saying Jim's gay. Sherlock is wrong, but Jim is not what he seems. Despite Sherlock's poor treatment of her, she is unfailingly loyal to him and trusts him completely. He turns to her for help at a crucial time.

Black eyed demon: Name: Baldir. Age: Unknown Occupation: None. Actor: Asa Butterfield About: These demons are the most common type of demon. They occupy positions in earth as in Hell. They appear to hold different ranks and positions within the society; they also have different powers and abilities. They are grouped together since when they possess a human, they can turn the hosts eyes entirely black by their own will. Most black eyed demons serve a higher ranking demon or entity. Baldir is serving Crowley the King of Hell to try to manipulation the Winchesters and their group. Baldir comes across as quite innocent to begin with, before turning manipulative toward the Winchesters, telling them different things to try and get them to turn on one another. The Winchesters have a feeling that Baldir is a demon and they end up tying him to a chair and placing him under a devils trap, they interrogate him with holy water and salt, before it is revealed that he is working for Crowley, the Winchesters then begin to exorcise him.

Supernatural Symbols
Devils Trap: The devils trap is used to immobolise and control demons. It is similar to using a circle of salt, although it is more powerful and persistent as it is usually etched or painted in place and cannot simply be blown or brushed away. If a demon walks inside a devils trap they cannot physically leave it and are completely trapped. Devil's traps also inhibit the use of some demonic powers. Devil's traps have been used not only to detain a demon, but are also drawn at entrances as a deterrent to prevent access to a building, room, or container. The devils traps seen in Supernatural all originate from The Lesser Key of Solomon, which is a grimoire, or magical text, written in the 17th century. It contains rituals and spells for invoking and controlling both demons and angels.

Enochian: Enochian is an angelic language with which angels communicate with one another in Heaven. The language is often used for spells that affect angels. Enochian sigils are powerful glyphs. They can be used to bind demons, protect an area from angelic interference, and conceal humans from "every angel in creation." There is an Enochian chant that can forcibly expel an angel from a vessel and send it back to Heaven.

Anti-Possession: Following Sam's possession by Meg in 2.14 Born Under a Bad Sign, Bobby gives Sam and Dean each a charm amulet which features a symbol which will stop demonic possession.
