(hink, (herefore !) written by *ennifer +ee, !nstant )essenger is to be b#amed for this% For the "ast few years, there has been a di#emma occurring throughout schoo#s nationwide% ,tudents have been abbreviating their words into their writing assignments at schoo# out of habit% -ven though !nstant )essenger isn$t as re#evant as it used to be, the writing sty#e has continued from !nstant )essenger, to texting and socia# media sites, and is sti## being brought into schoo#s% .o matter how many "oints teachers deduct from assignments for using such shortcuts, the issue does not cease%

&e##, if the students do not #earn the difference between conversationa# writing and forma# writing then how does that affect the years ahead Forma# writing is a crucia# "art of co##ege and many co##eges re/uire an essay to be submitted a#ong with an a""#ication% ! fee# as though knowing the im"ortance of writing "ro"er#y and knowing when and when not to use abbreviations is very im"ortant, es"ecia##y when it comes to a""#ying for co##ege% 'nd ho"efu##y there never comes a day that there is no more inte##igent #ife and co##eges have to resort to acce"ting such #azy students%

0erha"s #aziness isn$t the on#y reason students are abbreviating% 1ne of the reasons that students are using abbreviations is a#so to rush through things and make sure they are done by the dead#ine% 2onsidering this, ! ask yet another /uestion3 're schoo#s causing too much stress on their students and making them resort to unnecessary shortcuts to satisfy the interest of meeting dead#ines

So why exactly is this a problem?
