The Oppressed and Victimized An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind. Buddha brings up a persistent idea of bullying, the effects it has on peoples subconscious, and their self-esteem. Bullying is a traumatic issue that keeps showing up yet nobody appears to comprehend how mentally destructive it can be to the victims. Bullies tend to devour happiness like a cannibal, only to look favorable. With all the disheartening negativity that bullies impose on their victims mind it can change a person dramatically in the way they think, eat, and perceive. In the past, when bullies have inflicted their rage onto somebody else, the victim of that rage commits suicide or suffers from minor to major depression. The tongue like a sharp knife... Kills without drawing blood. This quote from Buddha represents the morbid conflict of bullying in our society today. Bullies can be found anywhere while causing pain in different ways: from the playground to computer, from classmates to parents, from physical to verbal. Bullies are unpredictable. Bullies are tyrants. Bullies are malicious. Some peoplemostly teenagershave this dire urge to torment someone else to make themselves feel superior. The victims then carry around all that tremendous baggage and turn into bitter tasting chocolate and start bullying other people. Just because others picked on you doesnt make it right for you to pick on others. You might not be concerned with it simply because it doesnt affect you but it may indirectly; someone you know has been bullied and may even suffer from depression because of it. Usually after a child has been tormented by another person they start to drown in a sea of hopelessness and despair: depression. The mind becomes oppressed with all these harmful fictitious judgments which somebody else accuses them of being. These absurd opinions are

absorbed into the victims mind where they mistake them into truths; the victim then starts believing in what the bullies are saying. This causes an abundance of chaos and confusion in the victims mind which discharges them from reality. Not only do people who suffer from the inhumanity of bullying and depression but may also suffer from an eating disorder as well especially if the tormenters call the victim fat. After being called fat the victim starts not taking decent maintenance of themselves trying to slim down a few sizes: not caring what the cost. So always think before you say something instead of saying something before you think. How would you like it if you were getting bullied and no one else did anything to stop it? The problem in our society today is that people will do and say nothing about a peer getting bullied: being impartial to bullying would be just as bad as bullying someone yourself. And if you are one getting bullied dont subject yourself to that torture: stand up for yourself and for others who are being bullied. Tell on the culprits, even if the bully threatens your well-being or even more dramatically: your life. Its always better to tell an adult figure before the situation becomes out of control. Even if they dont threaten you and youre just afraid to speak out do the right thing and bring it up with an adult you trust. Always try to put a stop to this nature of tyranny before it soars out of your control. We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves. In this jubilant quoteonce again said by Buddhait represents the hope in everyones mind: even if you grieve from depression theres usually a little hope in a corner of your brain. A hope for love; maybe a hope for your aspirations to become real; perhaps, even, for the hope of life to eventually get better. And remember no matter how hard you have it theres always a chance of it getting better and theres always someone you can talk to. My fellow citizens, peers, and companions consider joining me on this inspiring journey to conclude the tyranny of intimidation and harassment.
