FionaHaze December3,2013 Mrs.BarbersClass ScientificMethod Question/Problem:Wetestedthereactionbetweendifferenttypesofplantsifwewouldwater themwithnosalt,onespoonofsaltandwater,threespoonsandfivespoons.Thefourtypesof differentplantsareSunflower,Peas,CornandRadish.Ithoughtthattheonespoonofsaltwould makeitgrowfasterthanthenosalt,butIwaswrong,nosaltgrowsmuchbetterthansalt.The fivespoonsofsaltisstillnotgrowing.Wegivethewater45mmeverydayexceptfridaywhenwe giveit60mm. Hypothesis:Ithoughtthatthenosaltwouldworkinaweakerscalethantheonespoonofsalt. Butactually,thenosaltgrowsabout20mmmorethantheonespoonofsalt.Also,Ithoughtthat thefivespoonsofsaltwouldntgrowatallanditdidntstartgrowing. Experiment:Wetestedthepowerofsaltifitwouldaffecttheplants.WehadSunflower,Peas, CornandRadish.

Fortheplantsoneofusgotnosaltandtheotherpersongotonespoonand oneotherpersongotthreespoonsandthelastpersongotfivespoons.Wewateredtheplants everyday.Weplantedtheseedsindifferentplacesinthedirt.Later,wewouldseehowthe plantswouldgrow. Materials:Salt,Plantingbox,Seeds,Water,CupandDirt Procedure:Firstweplantedtheseedsafingerdeepinthedirt.Laterwedecidedifhowmuch waterwewouldwatertheplants.Afterthatwewateredtheplantandplaceditinthesunlight.The nextday,wewouldseeiftheplantsgrew.Someofthemgrewwhiletheothersdidntgrowatall. Thesaltdidntgrowforawhileandtheonewiththenosaltgrewinafastspeed. ObservationsandData:(lookatthechartonthenextpage).Thechartexplainshowmuchthe plantshavebeengrowingandthelengthofthem.Alsoitshowsiftherehasbeenonespoonof saltnosaltthreespoonsorfivespoonsofsalt.Itshowshowmuchthetallestandlowestplants havebeen. Conclusion:Attheend,Thenosaltgrewthemostwhilethefivespoongrewtheleast.Thefive spoonsdidntgrowatall.Itwasalmostasurprisethatthefivespoonwouldntgrowatall.Itwas amazingtoseeitgrowingthatfast.
