1. Sherlock Holmes- He is the protaganist in this story. He is the detective who solves the crimes. He has a very interesting way of figuring out problems, but he always prevails. 2. Dr. Watson- He is the other protagonist in the novel along with being the narrator. He is the partner of Sherlock Holmes. Throughout the book, he tries to impress Holmes by using his odd ways to solve crimes. 3. Sir Henry Baskerville- The late nephew of Sir Charles and closest living relative. He is around 30 years old. He helps Holmes and Watson to figure out who the criminals are in the novel. 4. Sir Charles Baskerville- He is the head of the Baskerville estate. He was a ver supersticious man, and he was terrefied of the Baskerville curse. He was planning on investing in the regions surounding his estate before he died. Hisnephew would then take over the estate and follow in his uncles footsteps. 5. Sir Hugo Baskerville- Ancestor of the Baskervilles. He was a strange man who always drank and caused harm to himself. The excessive drinking eventually killed him in the novel. 6. Mortimer- He is a family friend and the doctor for the Baskervilles. He is a tall man and an all around nice guy. He is the executer of Charles's estate. He is fascinated by the way Holmes operates, and he hopes to study his brain in the future. 7. Mr. Jack Stapleton- He was a school master, and he has a short temper. He is an antagonist in the novel. He is a scheming and manipulative man and Watson and Holmes come to fear and respect throughout the novel. 8. Miss Stapleton- She is thought to be Jack's sister, but in fact she is the wife of Jack Stapleton. This fact stuns the reader when they figure out she is the villains wife. She tries to stop her husband from killing, but she is to scared to make an impact. 9. The Convict- A murderous villain, who's crime's are extremely bad. He is associated with the Barrymores. His goal was to escape to South America. 10. Laura Lyons- She is the daughter of "Frankland the crank," who disowned her after she married against his will. She then turns to Mr. Stapleton and Charles for help.
