DEGREE OF PARTICIPATION: The strike by over 400 skilled workers at the Volvo Buses India factory at Hoskote which includes a seven-day fast by five workers. Every regular employee of Volvo bus plant in India are striking for better pay and the return to work of four colleagues who were suspended which they allegedly physically assaulted a manager.

WORKERS PARTICIPATION IN COLLECTIVE BARGAINING: strike led to tripartite negotiations and successfully ended with the long awaited wage settlement (valid for three years) with salaries increasing in the range of Rs 3,500-5,000 for the employees. management is not in a position to negotiate with union about the revocation of the four suspended employees as it terms the issue of grave indiscipline. VBWU agreed to return to work pending an investigation into the allegations against the four dismissed workers
