MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES

I have chosen this topic considering it has several implications for teachers in terms of classroom instruction and enables us to effectively control the classroom. Multiple intelligence theory states that individuals possess at least seven different intelligences, and possibly an eighth and ninth intelligence. According to Gardners theory, all people possess each of the multiple intelligences to some degree. However, some individuals possess higher intellect on certain areas of intelligence. Gardner (2006) and others (Armstrong, 1994; Armstrong, 2000; Fisher & Fry, 2008; Keogh, 2003; Orlich et al, 2007; Ridnouer, 2006; Sulo, 2007 & Tomlinson, 1999) indicate that learning occurs best when the needs of our students are met through their multiple intelligences. http://jenntyl99.hubpages.com/hub/Use-of-Multiple-Intellugences-in-Schools-ItsPositve-Effect As teachers we should be able to both recognize them, and deal with them in order to benefit our students learning processes. Multiple intelligences recognition raise our awareness of what might be more effective when teaching a classroom with students baring varied learning styles and needs. Once we recognize the students needs, we can decide what the best path to take regarding lesson planning so as to meet the students particular needs.
