Source Documentation Sheet


Every time you use a source, you must add it to the Source Documentation Sheet. Copy information completely and accurately to the correct section of the Source Documentation Sheet Assign each source a number, beginning with #1 for the first source you use, #2 for the second source, and so on. Every source must have a different number; different articles from the same encyclopedia or database will count as separate sources. Every source will mean one source card and numerous Fact Cards. Some sources will have citation information already compiled for you. You can just record the correct information onto your Source Documentation Sheet. (see example below)

SUBTOPIC word to remind you which argument the information on the Fact Card would help support; may also include Introduction and Conclusion; helps you organize your paragraphs Fact Card Subtopic:

SOURCE #: tells where information on the fact card was found to help you correctly document within your paper; must match the number you assigned the resource on your Source Documentation Sheet

DIRECT QUOTE - Did you write down information word for word from the source? If you did, be sure to use quotation marks, and write down the name of the person you are quoting. This may be the author, or someone else named in the source.
