Try square- A carpenter's tool consisting of a ruled metal straightedge set at right angles to a straight piece, used for measuring and marking square work. Miter square- An instrument with straight edges that are set at a 45 angle or that are adjustable, used for marking the angles of a miter joint. Steel square- It consists of a long arm and a shorter one, which meet at an angle of 90 degrees (a right angle) Sliding T bevel- A sliding T bevel is an adjustable gauge for setting and transferring angles. The handle is usually made of wood or plastic and is connected to a metal blade with a thumbscrew or wing nut. The blade pivots and can be locked at any angle by loosening or tightening the thumbscrew.
