Reflections on coursework ED580 Intro to Inclusive Education- An introductory course helpful to learning and understanding IDEA, LRE, and

other rulings in special education. AE408 Curriculum Design in Art Education- This course was one of the two most relevant courses relating to my certification. I learned how to design a curriculum and develop lesson plans, charting for new ideas, classroom management, assessment and stages of student growth and development within the arts. I developed lesson plans for elementary, middle, and high school to use in my future employment. I loved this course and learned so much about the field of art education. AE400 Uses of Art Theory- the second most relevant course relating to my certification. Theories of art educators were discussed, art philosophy of education was developed and best practices in the classroom were learned. ED565 Intro to Instructional Technology- I took this online and I was computer literate at the beginning, I didnt even know how to use blackboard. I learned the capabilities of technology in the classroom. I never knew you could do so much with Microsoft word. Excel, power point, and wikis were also used. I created power points to be used in the classroom with lesson plans and developed a wiki for an interactive art quest. ED601 Literacy Foundations- What I remember most from this class was a statement from the instructor that children who live in poor economic households have lower word knowledge upon entering school. I am a bibliophile so I enjoyed this course and the books we read. I developed lesson plans to be used with the novels we read. ED503 General Foundations of Education in the US- Ethnographic research and journaling was required and completed, which helped to develop the final portfolio and written paper. Theories in education, laws and history of schooling were discussed. A philosophy of education was developed. This class was very interesting to me because of the ethnographic approach. ED521 Teacher in the Classroom Elementary- I learned many useful approaches to teaching learned. We were taught as we should teach through inquiry. Lesson plans were developed on higher level blooms questions and I developed an inquiry project on critical thinking in the art classroom. ED517 Human Development K-12- In this course the stages of development, both physical and cognitive, were studied. ED502 Foundations of Curriculum- I learned many theories of curriculum studies and I was able to justify my own practices accordingly. An action research project was developed and our class spoke at a conference on funding in public schools.
