SUB : OII Frequency Operation oI 210 MW Steam Turbine (LMW Design)
In the above turbines permissible Irequency range Ior continuous operation is
49 Hz to 50.5 Hz. This is already indicated in the Turbine O & M manual. However, we
wish to again emphasize the same. Operation oI the set beyond this range may cause
premature Iailure oI Turbine Rotor Blades. Particularly last stage oI IP Rotor and LP
Rotor stages are more severely eIIected due to their resonance, iI the set is operated
beyond this range.
It is advised to take necessary action to operate the sets within the permissible
range oI 49 Hz to 50.5 Hz Ior continuous operation, by suitably controlling the load and
proper grid management .
In emergency situations Ior the system, a short term operation oI the turbine is
allowed at the Iollowing Irequencies :
50.5 Hz 51 Hz Not more than 3 minutes at a stretch and 500 minutes in the
whole period oI operation
49 Hz 48 Hz Not more than 3 minutes at a stretch and 500 minutes in the
whole period oI operation
48 Hz 47 Hz Not more than 1 minute at a stretch and 180 minutes in the whole
period oI operation
47 Hz - 46 Hz Not longer than 10 seconds at a stretch and 30 minutes Ior the
whole period oI operation
