What is a producer?

Jon Thompson has worked on Kill Bill, Batman Begins, Mission Impossible III and the award-winning feature documentary The Bengali Detective, as well as the internationally acclaimed box ofce hit Earth (the feature lm version of BBC series Planet Earth), an epic portrait of the diversity of life on our planet, and of the threat posed to it by human activity. The talk will be about the nuts and bolts of the role of the lm producer. What is a producer? What do they do? How do you get to be producer? Why development is the most important stage of any lm, from $200m movies to micro budget lms, and why the principles are the same. How to get a foothold in the business. What you should do to get peoples attention, and what you shouldnt do!
