When is the Present Perfect
used?

 Totalk about an action which started in the


past and continues up to now.

ex. I have lived in Mataró for more than 10


years
When is it used?

 Totalk about an action in the past when the


time period has not finished.

ex. Today I have been to the shops.


 To
talk about an action which happened at
some unknown time in the past.

ex. I have already seen that film and I don’t


want to see it again.
The Present perfect is often
used with:

already (sooner than expected)


She has already met his brother.

yet (questions and negative sentences)


The teacher has not arrived yet.
Have you eaten anything yet?
The Present perfect is often
used with:

just (very recent action)


I have just spoken to my friend.

ever (sometime before now)


Have you ever driven a car?
