Indus Valley Trekking Overview: The name of India itself is a corruption of the word Sindhu.

Sindhu is the oldest name in Indian history as well in Indian geography. When Shiva carried the immolated body of his divine consort Sati over all the land, her skull-top with its hingula (sindur) fell at what has been Hinglaj ever since. It is near Karachi on the SindhBaluchistan border. To this holy spotsanctified by the visit of Rama, Sita, and Lakshmanawent the great Sindhi Sufi poet-saint Shah Abdul Latif in the company of yogis.Through the Indus valley and the ancient kingdom of Sham, we will discover the main Ladakhi monasteries and the wonderful sites surrounding them: Shey, Thiksey, Hemis, Spitok, Phyang, Lamayuru and Alchi are all accessible by road, and Temisgang, Ridzong and Likir line the trekking route. This itinerary is of moderate difficulty and the path does not rise above 4500m. The trail crosses numerous villages where the people have kept their Tibetan ways and customs.

Itinerary: Day 01: Arrive Leh. Day at Leisure, acclimatize to the rarefied atmosphere of the high altitude of 3500 mts.
Day 2: Leh Tour of Shey, Tikse, and Hemis Gompas, the spiritual heart of the Indus Valley. Day 3: Leh Tour of Stok Palace, home of the hereditary rulers of Ladakh, and Spitok Gompa. Day 4: Leh-Likir Tour of Basgo, Alchi, and Likir Gompas. Camp at Likir. Day 5: Likir-Yangthang Trek over Pobe la (3,550 metres) to Yangthang. Day 6: Yangthang Trek to Rizong Gompa and back to Yangthang. Day 7: Yangthang-Sermanchan Trek over Sermanchan la (3,750 metres) and Lago la (3,750 metres) to Ang. Day 8: Sermanchan-Wanlah Trek to Temisgang, then over Bongbong la (3,630 metres) to Khaltse, then by jeep to Wanlah. Camp at Wanlah. Day 9: Wanlah-Lamayuru Trek from Wanlah over Prinkiti la (3,725 metres) to Lamayuru. Camp at Lamayuru. Day 10: Lamayuru-Leh Return by jeep to Leh. Day 11: Leh-Delhi Morning flight to Delhi.
