Ellen resumes the narrative. Cathy stayed at Thrushcross Grange for 5 weeks until Christmas. When she returned home she had been transformed into a young lady with roles attending restrictions: she could no longer kiss Ellen without worrying about getting flour on her dress. She hurt Heathcliffs feelings by comparing his darkness and dirtiness to Edgar and Isabellas fair complexions and clean clothes. The boy had become more and more neglected in HHK absence, and was cruelly put in his place by Hindley and especially by Cathys new polish. Cathys affection for hm had not really changed, but he did not know this and ran out, refusing to come in for suppper. Ellen was sorry for him.

1)How long did Cathy stayed at Thrush cross Grange ? Ans: Cathy stayed at Thrush cross Grange for 5 weeks. 2)What happened to Cathys manners during the five weeks at lintons? Ans: During those five weeks she spent at the linton, Cathys manners much improved. She had learned to enojy fine clothes and admiration. She became very careful of her appearance.

3)Why did Heathcliff hide after Cathys return? Ans: Heathclif hid because he didnt want to Cathy to see his dirty clothes, hand an face and his uncombed thick hair after return. 4)What did Hindley invite Heathcliff to do after Cathys return?Why? Ans: After Cathys return, Hindely invited Heathcliff to wish Catherine(like all other servants) to enjoy his shame.

5)Why did Heathcliff refuse to shake hands with Cathy? Ans: Heathcliff refused to shake hands because he wouldnt stand to be laughed at.He tried to move away, but Cathy seized him.

6)Why did Heathcliff rush from the room? Ans: Heathcliff rushed from the room because Cathy told him that he was very dirty. 7)How did Cathy spend the evening before the Christman Day? Ans: Before The Christmas day , Cathy spent the evening with her brother and his wife looking at the presents they had bought for the Lintons and preparing for her new friends who were going to vsit her the next.
