Dear Governor William Sprague IV,

I am writing to inform you about the importance of passing the KeatingOwen Act. Can you please just listen to what I have to say. The bill should

pass because there are many jobs that are hard for the young, weak children, there are many dangers that can seriously injure a child while they are working, and many people already want it to be stopped. Children should not

be working and people should not use this terrible way of work force to perform menial tasks that adults could do instead. (Keating and Owen 1) Children work many hard and enduring jobs and often for a very long time too. Children are often forced into jobs because their parents are not able The children The children

also are paid less than adults are, and therefore they have to work longer to get the same amount of money. Some of the many jobs where children work include farms, mines, glass factories, textiles, agriculture, canneries, and home industries. They also work as newsboys, messengers, bootblacks, and

peddlers. (Bennett, Hodne, Sherer and Child Labor in Onion Field, Rice County, Minnesota) Children are sometimes very young and very weak when they have to work, yet they are forced to do things that are too challenging for them to achieve. Many of the jobs that they perform are dangerous and can lead to

serious, sometimes fatal injuries. Children who have to work are exposed to many dangerous objects, and they can get hurt by misusing them. Children often have to go to hospitals,
