Windmill Design
A windmill captures wind energy and then uses a generator to convert it to electrical energy
Main Components
1. Foundation 2. Tower 3. Nacelle 4. Rotor Blade 5. Hub
Advantages
Wind blows 24 hours a day Wind energy is a domestic renewable energy that has no pollution and very little effect on the environment The cost of wind energy is decreasing as the growing interest in renewable resources are increasing
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
Step 4
Able to deliver electricity at lower costs Well suited for offshore wind plants In areas where it is difficult to find sites, one large turbine uses the wind extremely efficiently
More suitable for local grids More economically friendly costs Landscape considerations
Striking facts
As of now, the U.S. contains enough usable wind resources to produce more electricity than we currently use. Recent studies show that each billion kilowatt-hours of annual wind energy generation creates around 450 jobs.
