Configure QoS on your Cisco router with this template

I realize this is an old article, but in case anyone else is trying to get this working on an 871 and having trouble, here is something I worked out after much trial and error. In order to get effective QO for my I! "hone #as in "ick u" the "hone and it takes bandwidth$%ueue "osition away from anything else ha""ening on the network sufficiently to have &'(O sound %uality issues) I had to add a sim"le traffic sha"ing "olicy in addition to the ste"s listed in the article for making a %os "olicy. o, follow the article$s"readsheet with one change* instead of a""lying the %os "olicy directly to the outbound interface #i.e. service+"olicy out"ut ,yQO whatever), make a traffic sha"ing "olicy that references the %os "olicy and a""ly that* #make a sha"er) "olicy+ma" sha"er class class+default sha"e "eak 1-.... /++ find a number$method that works for you service+"olicy ,yQO whatever #a""ly this instead) interface 0ast'thernet1 service+"olicy out"ut sha"er ,aybe there is a way to avoid needing this, I am no cisco e2"ert. ,aybe my situation is a bit different because I use a !!!o' connection for outbound... all I know is that without a sha"er, things were better than nothing but still far from "erfect. 3ith sha"er, I have "erfect sound %uality on calls no matter what else is going on the network. ho"e that saves someone some time.
