Doug Lederman: (played by Christina): Lenderman is pro forgiveness because of the massive increase of debt that the credit card company has gone into as well as the effect it has had on our economy. He is concerned about the deceptive practices in the loan industry. He is also the head of the Congress. Neal McCluskey: (played by Alejandra): McCluskey is another member of the Congress that not only is against forgiving credit card loans; but also is against increasing taxes for the rest of society. Jen Mishory: (played by Tina): Mishory is pro forgiveness. She believes that by forgiving credit card loans, it will benefit society by allowing them to purchase big items such as houses and cars. She is also another member of the board. Brian Holmes: (played by Greg): Holmes is the final member of Congress; he is pro forgiveness because of the monster these loans have created. Setting [Time: 21st Century, towards the end of the year 2013 on the planet Earth. Place: Washington D.C. in a secret meeting room in the white house. All members of Congress walk into the room underneath the white house to address the problem of credit card loans.] Holmes: Good morning! Vedder: Good morning! What a wonderful day to work right!? (In a sarcastic tone). Mishory: Of course, but not without my daily dose of coffee ha-ha. Lederman: Okay you guys, lets get straight to it. Today, we will be discussing the arising issue of credit card loans and the effect it has had on our economy. We need to figure out a way to help our citizens.

Shoukry 2 McCluskey: Why dont we consider forgiving credit card loans so that way people can spend money on other things That way we can help get our economy back on track. Vedder: Weve tried that in the past. Maybe not forgiving the loans completely but we have seen that giving people more money to spend will not bring recovery. Besides, why should we even consider giving these individuals a break, might, as well send a message saying there is no need to pay anything off to the rest of the world. (Sarcastic tone). Mishory: But dont you think that by taking the financial burden off of a person it would make them want to purchase major items such as a house or another item with the extra money they have? With the current economy, it has become extremely difficult to keep up with mortgage payments especially if the individual is struggling to pay off their credit card loans. Vedder: Okay, lets say that we do forgive people with credit card debts, then what? Whos going to pay the trillion-dollar debt that our nation is in because of credit cards? McCluskey: Certainly not the citizens, thats for sure. They are already paying a good portion of their paychecks to our programs like Medicare or Social Security; it is not their responsibility to take care of the people who cannot afford what they spend. Holmes: How can you say that? It is not their fault that jobs have decreased but living expenses still remain the same if not more Besides, I think it is more of the lenders fault rather than the individuals requesting and spending the credit cards. McCluskey: What do you mean by it is the lenders fault that the debt has grown so much? Holmes: What I mean by this is simply that it is wrong. The default rates on credit card loans have grown to 9% and within the next 20 years, it is estimated to grow up to 16%! How is this fair to the person who took out the loan? They have to pay off more than they even borrowed. Lenderman: Exactly! It is not fair. Besides, lenders have also created alliances with banks in which they bribe them to tell their customers to go to that particular credit card company. That is truly wrong because it gives false advertisement to society in a way. Mishory: That awful! Lenderman: Tell me about it! Lenders are even paying the bank members with all expense paid trip just to send them more clients and make them believe that it is the best deal. Vedder: I do not think that any of this is a reason to forgive credit card debts! We have to look at the bigger picture here! McCluskey: I COMPLETELY agree with you! Why on earth would we want to add more debt to our overbearing national debt? It just does not make sense. We have to have an image not only for the majority but also for our nations future and adding more debt is not the answer.

Shoukry 3 Mishory: Then what do you suggest is the answer? To let these people struggle on a daily basis to pay off their debts? Holmes: We need to create a new system, because if things keep going the way they are now, these loans will create a monster and will corrupt our economy. Lederman: Okay, this is going nowhere we must all agree or disagree on whether forgiving credit card loans are the best decision right now. All those in favor, say I. All those oppose say, nay. Lederman, Mishory, Holmes: I! Vedder, McCluskey: Nay! Lederman: Because we did not reach an agreement at this time, this issue will be placed on hold until our next meeting. Meeting adjured. [Everyone walks out the room.]
