COIN ESCAPE

Half-pipe in order to redirect the ball into the right location

The ball hits the holding pin at around 3.2 seconds which causes a jump

It is around here that the ball reaches the fastest average velocity since it goes down steps

The next motion that is detected is the coins that slide down into the cup which is recorded at 3.7 seconds which ends the jump.

The coins end up in the bottle thus ending the motion in the machine

This is the part that gives the negative velocity at 2.707 seconds

Position Graph

0.5441 3 + 10.61 2 25.84 + 19.25 [1.415,2.457) ( ) 61.48 3 551.1 2 + 1619 1552 [2.457,3.705] 4.309 3 + 20.652 + 48.63 236.0 [3.955,5.413)

Where is the position curve continuous? The curve is continuous in most of the graph a good example of this would be point 2.207 because it fits all 3 conditions of continuity which are: -that the limit does exist at lim2.207 () = 8.125 & lim2.207 ( ) = 8.125 -If we also plug in the x value into the equation we could find that f(x) exists so 0.5441(2.207)3 + 10.61(2.207)2 25.84(2.207) + 19.25 = 8.1

Most Creative Discontinuity The graph above does have a point of discontinuity in between points 3.705 and 3.955 because this is the time period in which the ball hits the lever and makes the seesaw move and drop the coins which create a jump in the graph. Therefore there is no continuity and I will use 3.8 as an example: -The limit doesnt exist since there is nothing to the left or right to it so lim3.8 ( ) =

-There is no value at x= 3.8 there for the point doesnt exist -therefore lim2.207 (2.207) = 8.125 & lim2.207 (2.207) = - If there is no value at 3.8 than we cant prove that the 8.125 limit meets up at that point

Proving yet again that the curve is continuous

This proves that this part of the graph is not continuous

Andoaga |3 Velocity Graph

Fastest Average Velocity The fastest average velocity could be found by finding the slope between two times so I chose the times 2.707 and 2.957:

Most Displacement within 3 seconds I believe that the time that would have the most displacement would be between 1.957 sec to 2.957 sec . In order to prove this claim I used right end triangles .25(5.312)+.25(8.125)+. 25(11.87)+.25(13.38)+. 25(6.823)= 11.3775 This means that at the point when the ball hit the 2.975 second mark the ball was 11.3775 inches away from the location it was at 1.975 seconds.

6.823 13.38 6.557 2.957 2.707 . 25 = 26.228

The only thing that we really changed was we did not add the bumpers at the end of the track to lead the ball into the bottle catcher. This was because the ball was just guided there without need of extra support so we decided not to include it.
