SUMMATIVE PHOTOSY LAB PROBLEM: HYPOTHESIS: If you double the distance of light from 5cm to 10cm then, the

light will decrees by 50% THEORY: Photosynthesis is when the leaves of a plant obtain energy from the sun to make photosynthesis. The products to make photosynthesis are light, water, and carbon to make food for the plant. Then the plant will release co2 in to the air. I think there will be less photosynthesis cause the light will be not as strong so the plant will produce less co2. Using the data it shows that all the groups that moved from 5cm to 10cm had less production of co2. It shows on research if the elodea is moved 50% away from the light the oxygen will decrease by 42%.

PROCEDURE: For Light Intensity 1. Measure and cut at an angle elodea 7 to 9 cm. 2. Remove a few leaves from end of stem and slightly crush end of stem. 3. Measure mass in grams and record. 4. Put elodea stem side up in a test tube. 5. Fill test tube with water and baking soda solution (1 tsp to 100 mL of water). 6. Put tube in rack and adjust lamp 5 cm from top of test tube. 7. Turn on lamp and wait 1 minute. 8. After 1 minute, begin counting small, medium and large bubbles for 3 minutes. Record data. 9. Repeat at 10 cm with same size and mass elodea 10. Repeat for Trial 2

Conclusion: In this lab, my group tested the amount of photosynthesis created under 5cm of light and ten centimeters of light. I hypothesized that 5cm would have a greater amount of oxygen then 10cm. period 1 increased 68% the only other class to increase was period 7 by 10%. In periods 2, 3, 4, and 6 had data that was far off my groups data with the grade average was decreased by 17%. Compared to the 7th grade my group was not accurate. But my hypothesis that the oxygen increased is correct. Analysis: After comparing the data the discrepancy was that only period 1 and period 7 increased changing the grade average. The results were inconsistent cause there were different people counting bubbles some people might be counting bubbles that were not coming of the elodea. One group might say a bubble is small

and another group might say it is medium. Are group could improve are reliability by listening better and reading directions. We put the baking soda in the plant test tube directly when we were exposed to put it in another glass of water then put it in the plant.
