2009 - 2013 Millersville University: Millersville, PA Bachelors of Science in Music Education, K- 12 Instrumental and Vocal, Cum Laude graduate GPA: 3.62, Major GPA: 3.87 Major Awards: Music For Everyone Scholarship - Awarded scholarship for exemplary teaching in Millersvilles Elementary Methods class. - Earned additional hours of instruction at Buchanan Elementary School, creating the first recorder and Orff ensemble. - Created an original arrangement of folk tunes which students performed in an ensemble at their spring concert. TEACHING
Student Teaching (Placement 2) Fall 2013 Cocalico High School: Denver, PA - Instruction of students in 9th grade general music class, sectionals, including musical ensembles covering variety of musical topics. - Rehearsed marching band, symphonic band, and wind ensemble preparing best student performance for upcoming concerts. Pequea Elementary School: Willow Street PA Eshleman Elementary School: Millersville PA - Taught students K - 6 grade levels in general music classes, music classes for students with special needs, individual/small group lessons, and ensembles. -Collaborated and assisted during rehearsals for elementary chorus, elementary orchestra, and elementary band. Warwick High School: Lititz, PA - Primary instructor of 9th - 12th grade woodwind students in marching technique and music. Additionally, supported the brass section throughout the season. - Marching band earned 3rd place title and Most Improved award in the American Open class division of Cavalcade of Bands circuit (2013). Lititz, PA - Teacher of private flute students from beginner to experienced at all skill levels. - Instruction to include: music theory, technique, ear training with overall focus on flute performance.
Millersville University: Millersville, PA - Instructed and supported music and non-music majors with individual classes. Edward Hand Middle School: Lancaster, PA - Assisted with instruction of middle school students covering: piano, drumming, and popular music. Penn Manor High School: Millersville, PA Wheatland Middle School: Lancaster, PA - Guided students in middle and high school, by demonstrating music theory using the Kodly Method. James Buchanan Elementary School: Lancaster PA - Directed elementary school students, through teaching them folk songs and music theory using the Kodly Method. Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corp: Reading, PA - Auditioned and earned a spot as a trumpet player in the drum corp. - Enforced time management, teamwork, how to rehearse brass ensemble, and explained knowledge of brass pedagogy. Warwick High School - Instructed and assisted with woodwind students attending music camp. Prepared educational games and musical activities. Performed instrument demonstration of saxophone and flute with students in concert. Millersville University: Millersville, PA - Participated in Millersville Ensembles: Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, University Choir, Flute Choir, and Symphonic Band. I learned about teaching, conducting and leading sectionals. NAfME Chapter 92 Secretary & Freshman Representative - Membership on the NAfME executive board at Millersville, allowed me to help the board plan guest speakers and conventions, so that other music education majors could learn more about the field and expand their professional development. Council of Musical Organizations Millersville University - Treasurer - Participating as a member of the C.O.M.O executive board, allowed me to work with peers and communicated with my professors, student senate, and ensemble directors, in order to allocate and budget the money given to the musical ensembles.

Certification Experience -Certified in K-12 Vocal and Instrumental. -Using music technology and other technology in teaching. -Teaching multiple grade levels and many different schools. -Playing woodwind and brass instruments and singing. -Playing percussion and incorporating African drumming, Orff instruments and guitars, among other instruments, in the classroom. - Instruction methods include: Orff, Dalcroze, Gordon and Kodaly.
