JaNesha Wilson Ms. Caruso English 1102 October 31, 2013 Cover Girl Rhetorical Analysis In our everyday lives, there is some type of advertising going on around us. Whether it is seen on billboards while driving down the road, in emails, or announcement bulletin boards; there is advertising proposed. Many individuals can depict how or what is actually going on in a picture. Some can analyze deeper than what is trying to be depicted with the advertisement. An advertisement that I feel has many different views is a Cover Girl ad. It is an ad that would be seen inside a make-up magazine or on the cover of one.

One way that this advertisement may be analyzed is that all of the ladies are of different skin tones. This shows a sense of diversity. By having models within the ad of different tones, lets the audience know that there is not any discrimination. The different skin tones are the overall idea to some. This is depicted because it seems like the scale of the ladies to the surrounds parts of the picture are more focused on. Other ads use skin tones to grab ones

Another aspect of the Cover Girl ad is that the colors used may have a meaning behind them. Most of the colors used are bright and vibrant. The ladies are wearing either violet, bright yellow, or sky blue. The effect of the colors on a person may be positive. Colors that are sued may be a connection to what time of year it is in the advertisement. Which one may conclude it is the season of spring. As for in the Mac concealer ad,

, the color black shows a negative effect. The only part of the image that stands out is the Mac itself. Some viewers may think it is boring and no one really uses it because of the color scheme. The Cover Girl advertisement shows a connection to something of natural beauty. The nature part of the picture is the green scenery in the background. It seems like there is sunlight and tress. That is a natural aspect in and outdoor setting that is beautiful to some individuals. In

and after of the use of concealer. It represents how one can still look very natural with the use of their concealer. That defines the natural beauty about a person. Images can be analyzed in many different ways. Just because an image may be put out in the public for a specified reason, does not mean that is the only way it can be viewed. As for the Cover Girl ad chosen, there were many ways that the picture could have been viewed. The other ads had certain things similar to those of the Cover Girl advertisement. One should always view situations or pictures in more than one way. This helps to accept or view things from anothers perspective.

As for your question, I would talk about the aspect of the modern day woman as these ads seem to be published within the last 20 years.
