1. Purpose a. Students are learning how to extrapolate date from primary sources b.

Students are developing an understanding of different perspectives in history using art c. Students are learning about the different types of interactions between Europeans and the Natives 2. Input a. Students will receive a packet with the following pictures on it b. Students will assess the photos and make inferences about them without receiving background information on the photos c. Students will have to answer the following questions for EACH picture i. What do you know notice about the photo? Be as descriptive about the elements of the photo as possible. ii. What is going on in the photo? iii. Who is in the photo? iv. Who do you think illustrated the photo? Why? v. How is the photo similar or different from the other photos? vi. What does this photo tell you about the event it portrays? d. Students will be allowed to work with one other person within their group to help them answer the questions 3. Time a. 1 class period
