Claire Seeger Project 3 Narrative My Reflections on Project 3 a) I think that what works best in my project is that it transmits the

information in an easily understandable manner. I used multiple mediums of technology to reach my students, and in doing so I was able to reach a broader range of learners. I tried to emphasize the important parts of the information by enlarging the font and making these phrases and equations a different font color. This would be very helpful for visual learners. Also, I used two videos in my power point. This is helpful for both audio and visual learners as the information is presented through both mediums. b) If I had more time, energy, and money I would research the topic more in depth and I would make a more high quality video. I felt that while my video was adequate, it lacked a sense of professionalism that could be obtained with more time, energy, and money. Also, if I would like to research the topic more. My presentation only skimmed the surface of the wealth of knowledge regarding the golden ratio and the Fibonacci Sequence. In an ideal world, I would dedicate more of my resources to researching this topic of interest. c) The planning cards helped to clear my mind and focus my efforts. While I had conceived a vague notion of what I wanted to do with my power point, the planning cards helped make that idea into a tangible reality. I am a visual-kinesthetic learner, so I found it extremely enlightening to not only write out all my ideas, but also to place them in an order that I could see and move around. This helped me perceive the flaws in my plan and also to improve on the good ideas I had already developed. Similarly, the TA evaluation helped me to see the flaws in my planning. Before the evaluation, I had thought that my power point was practically perfect. However,

after meeting with Belen I realized that I still had a lot to work on in my power point and that it was far from perfect. d) Based on this process, I learned how important the instructional planning process was. If I was left to do the project by myself, the end result would have been disastrous. Not only would I have tried to procrastinate until the last moment possible, but I also would have been missing a lot of information because I would not have gotten the feedback needed to help me get back on track. This project helped me realize that it is very crucial for instructors to check in before, during, and after the project at hand. e) I believe that my project addressed all five of the NETS/ISTE standards. First, I believe that my project would both facilitate and inspire my students learning and creativity1. The information in the power point would cause the students to think outside the box and connect math to the world around them. Secondly, as an educator I had to design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments. This entire project was done using technology, and I included an assessment within the power point. Thirdly, my project modeled digital age work and learning. I used two videos within my power point, and I analyzed data using technology. For example, I included pictures of the Last Supper and The Mona Lisa by Da Vinci that had a superimposed graph of the golden ratio. Fourthly, it promoted and modeled digital citizenship and responsibility: my power point included references with all the information I used. Lastly, this project helped me engage in professional growth and leadership. Through this project I had to learn how to use many tools and applications within power point that I didnt even know existed. For example, I learned how to hyperlink text to a different slide, as well as insert buttons into multiple slides. I believe that this helped me grow in my technological knowledge and professionalism.
