YOUR NO EXCUSES SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT GUIDE

COMPLETE PROJECT DUE JANUARY 8TH

ROUGH DRAFT THAT IS DUE 12/6

YOU WILL NEED TO TURN IN PAGES 3, 4 and 5 OF THE RESEARCH PAPER TEMPLATE ON MY WEBSITE SCIENCEMCCOY.WEEBLY.COM. PAGE 3 INCLUDES YOUR Purpose/Problem: State your experimental problem or question here. Explain why it is a problem and why you are interested in solving it Hypothesis:(also placed on display board)If____( independent variable)_______then ____(dependent variable)_____ Explain why you expect these outcomes. Use 2 facts from your literature review to support your hypothesis.

Rough Draft Continued

Page 4 includes:
Manipulated Variable(independent variable) explains what your manipulated variable is and how it is being changed. You should also state how it is being measured and what units are being used. Responding Variable(dependent variable): area explains what the responding variable will be. You should also explain why you expect it to change the relationship between what you have changed and this variable. You also need to state how it will be measured and what units will be used. Constants:(also placed on display board)List and describe everything you will be doing during your experiment that will stay the same. Think about things such as time of day, temperature, amount of light or dark, heat etc as you complete this section. Control:(also placed on display board)If your project is experimental, explain what control group you will compare your results to.

Part 3a due Dec 6th Rough Draft Continued ( notice you will be turning in 3 pages).

Page 5 Materials List:(also placed on display board)This is where you list EVERY piece of equipment or material you will use to complete your experiment/test. Anything you use should be listed here, or it should not be a part of your project. If you use specialized equipment, you must explain how you accessed it. Procedure Steps:(also placed on display board)Step 1: What did you do first. Usually you were acquiring all the materials and setting things up. Step 2: Set up of experiment. Step 3: Keep describing everything you did like a recipe!

OK SO HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO COMPLETE FOR THE FINAL PROJECT

The Science Journal The Abstract The Final Research Paper which includes the literature review at the beginning of the paper after the title page and the bibliography is the last page of entire research paper. See template on my website. Science Fair Board Display ( just buy one of those regular tri fold display boards available at Michaels or Walmart. Michaels.com usually has a 40% off one item coupon that can be used to save money.

Next, START YOUR EXPERIMENT if you havent already. Start with your experimental question that I approved, and set up your experiment. Dont forget to write all the steps down in your science journal.

SCIENCE JOURNAL

THE SCIENCE JOURNAL

You will keep a science experiment notebook/journal Recording Observations and Data Use a separate notebook for recording all measurements and observations. Record information on a daily basis and consider the following things:

Make sure that accurate metric measurements are given in your data. Give masses in grams, volumes in mL, and linear measurements in centimeters. It is better to have too much data than not enough so keep a lot of notes. When making an observation, write down the date and time. Keep track of the materials used, their quantities and cost.

Consider taking photographs to be used in your research paper or as part of your display.
Include everything from your research paper and things done or given pertaining to the science fair in your science journal, and keep all rough drafts glued down or stapled inside science journal. Put all handouts in science journal. Everything goes in here including the abstract.

The Abstract

The Abstract

The Abstract

The FINAL Research Paper ( which includes your final literature review). The
research paper and lit review and bibliography/work cited page are not the same thing. The research paper includes the title page, lit review, details of experiment, then the conclusion and bibliography last.

Simply go on my website and follow the error proof template. Remove the instructions and insert your information.
