Advertising is a highly specialized field that carefully constructs words and images to communicate a very specific message in order to sell or promote products and services. For this assignment, leading into our collaborative unit on advertising design, you are going to take a look under the hood of an ad. Part A: Choose one of the ads on todays Design Blog page, and answer the following questions: Your answers do not have to be long, just thoughtful! What is the general feeling or mood of the ad? How does the design create this? (Use specific examples). That you need to disinfect wound thats what the feeling is of seriousness. Because the way it has

1. 2. How did the designer arrange the elements (composition) within the ad? What did the designer want to bring your attention to, and how did they accomplish this? 3. If there are people in the ad, what are their expressions and attitudes? The mother has a serious expression. 5. What is happening in the ad (the action). Or how could you describe the plot. The parent is trying to cure her daughter of her crape from falling off the bike. 6. What themes are at play in the ad? Anger, sadness, sexuality, etc. The theme is over exaggeration. 7. How does the typography (the look of the text, fonts) contribute to the overall feeling of the ad? The text clearly states that you have to use Betadine instead using a flamethrower text is not used a lot during this ad. 8. What social, political, or cultural commentary is being reflected in the ad, whether directly or indirectly? What is being reflected is the fact that some parents go overboard when there son or daughter get hurt and it is directly stated.

Part B: Go online and search for ads. Find, and save to your desktop, 3 ads that you like and attach them to this document. Underneath each ad, tell me what you like about this ad and what you think it does very well.
