Wood 2

Course Introduction Welcome to the Wood 2 course at South Western High School. This course is designed to further your knowledge and skills in the woodworking trade. This course is hands on and project based, you must be able to be self-motivated to succeed in this class. The course will be broken down as follows Week 1- Introduction, and Project Planning Review. Week 2-4 Machine review, Mallet Build. Week 4-6 Dovetailing, Finger Joints Week 6-9 Independent Project Build This is just a rough framework of the course and the times are susceptible to change due in part to the skill level of the class. You will be graded on machine quizzes, projects, joinery checklist, class participation and the final. Your final will be project based and count as 20% of your final grade. It will include a working prototype, write up and presentation. This course is meant to challenge and expand your knowledge of the non-metal field. Safety is our number one concern in this class; any behavior that could result in injury of yourself or others will not be tolerated and could result in privileges being taken away. All shop and machine rules must be maintained at all times in this class. I hope that you have an educational, productive and enjoyable semester in Wood 2; I look forward to seeing your creations!
