Identifying Topic: students need to be somewhat familiar with the chosen topic, and other topics related to it. Specific Learning Objectives: Helps guides thinking for selecting examples. Selecting Examples and Nonexamples: must give examples that better explain to the student what the concept is. Nonexamples are just as important because the student must have an idea of what the concept does not look like. . If the student is just given the right example all the time, if they are given the wrong example in a similar contect they may get confused because they were never given the wrong example to know what it may look like. Sequencing examples and nonexamples: This is important because the students must be able to decipher what the concept looks like when it is right, and what the concept looks like when it is wrong. Giving the student an opportunity to know the difference between right and worng examples I key to fully understanding.

Phase 1: A proper introduction must be presented to help the student better understand the concept. Phase 2: Provide the student with examples and nonexamples and ask the students to form an hypothesis of the concept. Phase 3: Display examples and nonexamples in the best way to elaborate the concept and help students practice critical thinking skills. Once again present the examples and nonexamples and have students reevaluate their hypothesis to see if they still believe what they originally wrote down. Encourage students to change or add to their original hypothesis. Dont pass judgment on any students hypothesis. Encourage all answers. Write hypothesis on the board and cross out wrong hypothesis as they are rejected. Phase 4: Begin to center around one hypothesis. Once the class has reached one hypothesis bring lesson to a close.

Understanding of Concepts: simply ask the student to define the word or best identify the definition. Also ask the student to provide additional examples. Critical Thinking Abilities: have learners analyze hypothesis as they are presented with additional examples. Also involves simultaneous assessment of content understand.

Motivates students because it is like a game. They make educational guesses on what the main topic is. Putting students in groups can help motivate students which increase learning. Students could be put in groups and work together to come up with a hypothesis as a whole instead of individually. Always instills a sense of curiosity, which can motivate students to want to be the first to get the correct answer.

So what? What is important to understand about this?

Allows students to be creative with their own critical thinking skills to form a hypothesis about a concept.
