Cumulative Reflection It feels just like yesterday, I just got done moving to Ames, Iowa to study Computer Engineering

at Iowa State University and now next semester I will e graduating! "#e time #as flown y so fast, ut from my experience at Iowa State I #ave learned more t#an I could #ave ever imagined college to e! $efore college, all my friends and I took all t#e same classes, all generali%ed and not specific to a certain major or group of people! &e also didn't c#oose t#e classes we were going to take, t#ey were all pre(assigned! )nce I got to Iowa State, I was in for a ig surprise! I needed to sign(up for classes and only some of t#e classes were re*uired classes and t#e ot#er classes I was a le to pick out myself! I t#oug#t to myself for one of t#e first times in my life, w#at classes do I want to take and w#ic# ones do I t#ink will #elp me get to my goal+ After studying at ISU, I elieve it #as #elped me learn t#e asic tools for uilding and designing systems! After taking several courses t#at #ave t#eir main focus on t#e design process, I #ave t#e confidence t#at I am a le to design a system and implement it wit# t#e tools I #ave ac*uired! "#e courses t#at #ave #elped in t#e design process were ComS ,-. Software /evelopment 0ractices and CprE 1.2 Computer Engineering Senior /esign! 3rom my class experience in t#ese courses, I am a le to take a complex pro lem and separate it into smaller managea le projects to put toget#er as a w#ole! In many of my classes at Iowa State, I was a le to work in groups to complete projects! "#is was a ig c#ange going into college as my previous education everyt#ing was very individuali%ed! 4ow t#at a lot of usinesses are going to more group work t#is was actually a great t#ing t#at we got some experience working in diverse groups! "#e groups I worked in varied from good to ad experiences, ut all in all t#ey worked out for t#e est to proved a great

learning experience! 3rom working in groups I #ave made some lifelong friends from spending so muc# time toget#er! &#ile studying at ISU, we #ave all worked on dealing wit# issues t#at are #appening at t#e present time! As a computer engineer most of t#is #as to deal wit# software issues and5or computer functionalities not working for a certain project! &e #ave ac*uired t#e skills to trou les#oot issues and find ways of working out our pro lems in a logical way! I feel t#at t#ese skills we #ave ac*uired will #elp us in future issues we mig#t #ave in t#e industry! $ecoming professionals in our field is anot#er adapted *uality I #ave come to reali%e going t#roug# my classes and presentations alike! 4ot only classes, ut t#roug# meetings wit# companies and t#e career fairs #ave taug#t me #ow to e more of a professional in t#e work place! "#e career fairs in general #ave given me more incite to w#at companies #ave to offer to students in my field, and I #ave een surprised y t#e many different opportunities t#ere are! In my first few years of college I wasn't too excited to go to t#e career fairs ecause I wasn't sure w#at to say and was very nervous to talk to companies wit# my little experience in t#e field so far! $ut as time #as passed, I #ave ecome more confident in my a ilities and it makes talking wit# companies muc# easier and effective! If I were to complete my undergraduate again, I would try to take as many of my classes in t#e afternoon or nig#t to improve my focus! &aking up for 6am classes made it #ard to remem er everyt#ing t#at was discussed and take tests t#at early! Starting on projects early will account for pro lems t#at mig#t come up! I #ad a #a it of starting assignments not early enoug# and didn't expect to #ave issues to come up!

Broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global/societal context EE 351 Intro to energy systems gave a very broad sense of the energy systems and their global efficiencies in different places in the world. The pollution that these systems produce as well. Recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in lifelong learning After taking a look at older technologies and how they change so fast in my profession I will need to be able to learn new things as time goes by. Knowledge of contemporary issues !aying attention to the news and media as well as technological advances will be very important to my career. As well as the problems the society has at the present time. Ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice
