what did you see? ok very good! Thats a picture of two roads, and I know you are wondering why I put that there. You will know the reason why, after we read the poem. kindly follow reading when the poem appear in the slides. Analyze and try to understand what it conveys THE ROAD NOT TAKEN By: Robert Frost Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

two roads sir, two different roads

yes sir

(students are reading silently)

Questions: 1. So what is the poem all about? It is all about how we choose our own way into our journey Sir, I have an idea The poem states that, you will always have choices in life that are tough, but you can only do one at a time. Frost says that he doubts he will ever get a chance to take the other road, and just like in real life, when you make a decision, you cant always go back and change it. You will also live wondering what the other choice may have brought you.

Ok tell us. Very good, the poem was written by Robert Frost, a very good writer and ones claimed by Paul Muldoon as the greatest American poet of the 20th century

2. What do you think is the theme of the poem? - theme is one of the elements of poetry, it is the controlling idea of a poem is the idea continuously developed throughout the poem by sets of key words that identify the poet's subject and his attitude or feeling about it. 3. Which road did he took? Why did he took that?

Im sorry but what is theme sir? The main theme of the poem that Frost attempts to convey is how important the decisions that one makes can be, and how they affect one's future.

The less traveled road sir maybe sir because, he just want to make a difference. because the writer/speaker have regret of the path that he took, he/she think that he made a wrong decision Any of the two sir, because in our life we make decisions that may be good or bad, but whatever it is we have to accept the consequences.

4. Why is that, the title is The road not taken not The road taken?

5. If you are going to choose with the two roads what would you choose? POETRY -is an imaginative awareness of experience expressed through meaning, sound, and rhythmic language choices so as to evoke an emotional response. It comprises of several elements: 1.Theme -- it is the controlling idea of a poem is the idea continuously developed throughout the poem by sets of key words that identify the poet's subject and his attitude or feeling about it.

- Frost helps to express this theme by using symbolism to portray a road as one's journey of life.

2. Stanza -is a group within a poem which may have two or many lines. They are like paragraphs. - the poem is comprise of four stanzas, each consisting of five lines. 3. Sound - That doesn't just mean

rhyme.
Rhyme - means sounds agree. "Rhyme" usually means end rhymes (words at the end of a line). They give balance and please the ear. Sometimes rhymes are exact. Other times they are just similar. can you give an example of rhyming words in the poem? very good 4.Rhythm Meter (or metrics) - When you speak, you don't say everything in a steady tone like a hum--you'd sound funny. Instead, you stress parts of words. Sir, for example in the first stanza, the rhyming words are, wood, stood, could and undergrowth, both.

5.Figures of speech are also called figurative language. The most well-known figures of speech are are simile, metaphor, and personification. APPLICATION
The class will be divided in three groups. Each group are assigned to rephrase the poem.
