Ranked #4 Cities on the Edge of Greatness with a land area of 2.89 sq mi with a population density of 1,966.44/sq mi. Felida Park is 14 acres and has two full-size soccer fields and one mini-mod soccer field which are both used by the Salmon Creek Soccer Club. It also has a playground, basketball courts, picnic shelter and trails. Felida is a small town of 7,385 residents with a lively culture located north of Vancouver along the Lake River. This is evident in the communitys name origin, when the local post office was established just north of Vancouver Lake in 1890, the name Powley was submitted to honor a local resident, F. Powley, who had donated land for the school. The post office denied that name and suggested "Polly". C.C. Lewis, the postmaster, responded that the name sounded like a parrot, they might as well name it for his cat! He submitted Thomas, his cat's name, as well as Tomcat, and Felidae, Latin, for the big cats. The post office thought that Felida was a fine name. As of June 2013 the median home cost in Felida is $319,835. Home appreciation the last year has been 0.79 percent. The average home age in Felida is estimated to be around 12 years old with 89.07% of all homes are actually owned and includes mobile homes, apartments, separate living quarters and occupied rooms.
