1. Participation and Attendance The majority of your grade will be determined by your regular, punctual attendance. The group cannot hope to achieve the top level without the regular attendance of all members. To achieve a full participation score, a singer will be expected to participate fully, with their music and a pencil EVERY CLASS PERIOD. Note: The student may receive no higher than a B Grade if they miss one (1) concert. Please adjust schedules to ensure that the student will be able to participate. 2. Quizzes/Tests/Written Assignments Throughout the year, the choir will be assigned theory assignments that will be done outside of class. The teacher will be available for consultation on these assignments before and after school, as well as during Flex Period. Assignments will be docked 20% a day until it is turned in. All written work must be turned in to be eligible to receive extra credit opportunities. Tests will cover theory subjects, as well as individual music testing on required music. Written assignments will be assigned to help the student understand more fully a musical topic/idea. 3. Practice Records Each member will be expected to keep track of individual practice outside of school. The required minimum is 15 minutes a day 6 days a week, or 90 minutes a week. Practice will be more beneficial if it is done a little bit every day, rather than all at once.

Wardrobe
The wardrobe for the year will be decided on during the first week of classes. Please understand that there will be 2 required uniforms for the Madrigals group. Casual Attire: This is typically black dress pants and a uniform button up shirt and a tie for men, and dress pants with a uniform blouse for the women. Formal Attire: This is a tux with a matching vest and bowtie/tie for the men and a dress for the women. Fundraising will be available to those who need financial help towards uniform costs

Schedule
The Madrigal group will have an extremely busy schedule during the latter parts of November into the middle of December. It is very typical for the group to have nearly 50 performances during this time period, while performing at community functions, Holiday Parties, School Events, etc. Please ensure that this is something your student can commit to before the year begins. This time is extremely important for the development of their skills as well as a community presence.

Classroom Policies
Cell phone use in the classroom will not be tolerated. If the student is caught using a cell phone during class time, the cell phone will be confiscated and will be held until a parent/guardian meets with the teacher in-person. The student will be required to bring a pencil and their music to class EVERYDAY. The student may bring a water bottle to class, but will not be allowed to bring food or any liquid other than water to class.

Extra Credit
Students will be given opportunities to receive extra credit by attending approved vocal or choral concerts. The student must attend the event and provide a one (1) page written report on the concert. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the concert is approved before submitting extra credit. *Limit of 200 points of extra credit per semester*

Tour
The Madrigals will participate in the Seattle Chamber Choir Festival around Spring Break this year. The festival will provide housing and meals for the choir, so the student will be responsible for travel costs. The flight is estimated to be somewhere around $400. A final cost will be determined and passed on to parents/guardians as soon as possible. More information to come.

Social Media
The choir will be photographed and filmed by the school throughout the school year. This will help us to have multimedia for the school website, and for the school YouTube channel. Their images will not be used for any other reason without written permission. Should you wish to not have your student appear in these forums, please email the teacher at your earliest convenience.
