Lesson # ___4___ Date and Time of Lesson: November 12, 2013

Learning Objective: Students will be able to successfully complete various math problems using a 10 frame. Alignment with Standards: CCSS.Math.Content.1.NBT.A.1 Count to 120, starting at any number less than 120. In this range, read and write numerals and represent a number of objects with a written numeral. Developmental Appropriateness: This lesson is developmentally appropriate because the students have already learned how to use a 10 frame and this lesson is a review/refresher on how to use it. Assessment(s) of the Objectives: *This lesson as a whole will be a post assessment. The students have already learned about the 10 frame and still work with it on occasion. The lesson that I am going to do will be a brain refresher for the students. Pencils Procedures: *This lesson will use the pumpkin seeds from my science lesson that was previously taught. 1. I will start by asking my students if they remember the lesson that we did were we dissected the pumpkin. 2. I will then tell the students that we will be doing a lesson with the seeds from the pumpkin we dissected. 3. I will also tell the students how many seeds were in the pumpkin that we dissected. 4. After we have gotten all of our pumpkin talk out of the way, we will move on with our lesson. 5. I will pull up the 10 frame on the smart board. 6. I will write a number sentence on the board and work it through on the board as the students work it

After I have done 2-3 problems with the students I will give them 1 problem at a time to work through by themselves and then I will check it with them on the board. 9. After we have done 2-3 problems this way, I will hand out my other 10 frame sheets. 10. I will tell the students that I want them to get out their pencils. 11. I will write a number sentence without the answer on the board. 12. I will have the students write this number sentence on one side of their paper. 13. Next I will have the students write the answer to the number sentence on their paper and use their 10 frame to find the answer. 14. Students will complete 2 different problems on the paper using the 10 frame. 15. After both problems have been completed, I will take them up to see how the students did. Activity Analysis: Technology: I will be using the Smart Board in my lesson. It will be used to help the students check their own 10 frame that they will be working with. 10 frames: The 10 frames will be used as a practice/review and as my assessment.
