Worse Than Europe, Really The deal that Congress made was to raise Americas debt ceiling and

open the government back up until mid-January. Though Americas economy seems to be growing as its gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to increase to 2.4% by 2014; they are still expected to have another shut down. The problem with America is that they tax people like small countries do but spend like big countries. The reason for the shutdown is so the Republicans could hopefully stop funding Obama Care and the Democrats could hopefully stop the spending cuts of important departments such as defense and research. After this shutdown it seems that no one got their way. End Slavery In Europe Today, the European Union has 27 countries where approximately 880,000 people are subjected to slavery. Among the different forms of slavery human trafficking seems to be most predominant bringing in $33 billion in revenue. Statistically, these slaves tend to be women and children forced to do work typically found during the slavery time period: harvesting, working in home for the wealthy, planting, etc. There are many ways that they enslave these people, the most common being luring them across the borders in expectance of a better life. These enslaved people come from all across the world including Nigeria and Vietnam among other countries. This human trafficking has to be stopped and it starts with the European Union.

There are many ways that illegal immigrants could potentially reside in Europe by ways of plane and/or land and sea routes. Though it has been said that illegal border crossing rates have dropped in North Africa and Spain it has sadly increased in areas such as Italy. In order to stop illegal border crossing the European Union has pushed to enhance their surveillance system and increase their border police. Even with the death of 300 African immigrants on the island of Lampedusa, this has not decreased the amount of immigrants. Europe falls out of love with Obama over NSA spying claims "Allies who will listen to each other, who will learn from each other, who will, above all, trust each other," says President George W. Bush. Over this short amount of time, the relationship between Europe and Germany has been strained due to the allegations of spying. Jay Carney, a spokesperson for the White House, says, The president assured the chancellor that the United States is not monitoring, and will not monitor, the communications of the chancellor. In the next few days US Ambassadors is scheduled for a meeting in Paris and Berlin to explain their actions. Though US and Europe has been allied for years that may all change due to slight complications in these spying claims.
