A Pure Substance Love Story

Once, on a bright sunny day, Element Oxygen went shopping in a nearby supermarket. Similar
to the other 118 elements of the periodic table, Oxygen always kept his pure identity.
Unexpectedly he was attracted by another element in the supermarket and couldnt resist the
beauty and pureness of the other element. Therefore, he decided to approach her.
Hi, charming beauty, and pure princess! He said. I am Oxygen and am made of one single
type of atom. I therefore, belong to the pure substance family, the family that is made up of one
type of particle which cannot be separated by physical means, such as, filtration, evaporation,
distillation or chromatography. My pure substance family is grouped in two, the element family
and the compound family, added Oxygen confidently.
The other element interestingly listened to Oxygen, then replied, Hi! Oxygen, its quite a
pleasure to meet you. I am Hydrogen, the first element of the periodic table and am made of one
single type of atom. I possess qualities similar to yours and pertain to the element family too.
We are the type of elements that are not contaminated by other substances, nonetheless our atoms
can chemically combine with other elements to form a compound element, yet, keeping our pure
identity as pure substances. Stated Hydrogen.
That is really great news to hear that you relate to my group of pure substances, remarked
Oxygen. Do you accept to chemically bond with me and become a compound forever? Asked
Oxygen.
I do accept my super-element, Hydrogen replied without hesitation.
Not so long after, a great nuptial feast was organized and all the other elements and compound
elements witnessed the chemical bond of Hydrogen and Oxygen. However, something
mysteriously and majestically happened that day. To Oxygens surprise instead of one Hydrogen
atom, two Hydrogen atoms chemically bonded and ever since, they bonded to form the
compound element, water and keep bonded together throughout the world.
