Japan under the Shoguns Background: In this unit you have been studying key characteristics of life in Shogun Japan. Task: A toy company wants young people to become more engaged in History. You have been commissioned to create a Design Solution to make History more appealing to teenagers, while also teaching them about Shogun Japan. The purpose of this Design Challenge is to educate teenagers about aspects of traditional Shogun life in Japan including social structures, environment and customs. Individually, or in groups of no more than three, you will be required to submit: Design Solution: must be based on and include historical facts, terms and concepts, and incorporate historically accurate images and symbols. It must have a clear goal and context. You must produce a detailed plan, prototype and if possible final product. Explanation/Justification: short written response explaining and justifying how your design solution explains and educates players on Shogun Society and also how it engages teenagers. If working in a group, each INDIVIDUAL must produce their own Design Solution Explanation. A Research Journal in the template provided. Here you need to demonstrate that you have developed questions to frame your inquiry, and selected, organised and analysed information from a range of primary and secondary sources. If working in a group, each INDIVIDUAL must produce their own Research Journal.
