Teacher Performance Objectives During the lesson the teacher will: 1. Explain all of the safety and rules for the lesson. 2. Explain all of the skill cues as well as the start and stop signals. 3. Give more specific feedback to all students throughout the lesson 4. Do not tolerate any swearing or inappropriate behavior throughout the lesson. Special Considerations What are the safety concerns? What is unique about the students in this class? Some safety concerns for this class is that there will be many Frisbees being thrown simultaneously throughout the lesson. It is very important that all of the students have enough space and use enough space so that no one will get hit with a Frisbee. It is also very important that as the students are travelling around in space catching and throwing the Frisbee that they are still aware of their surroundings and do not run into anything or anyone. 1015 Warm up: students will start by jogging around the gym for 2 minutes. After this the teacher

will lead stretches. While the stretches are going on the teacher will inform the students about the stop and start signals and rules during the lesson. 1520 Transition: Students will walk outside to the Turf field and stand on the sideline without touching any of the equipment and face the teacher. 2023 Informing: Throwing the Frisbee is the most important aspect to playing Frisbee. Without being able to throw well or correctly, completing passes to other targets or people will be very difficult. In terms of playing a game such as Ultimate Frisbee, the more proficient at throwing the Frisbee you are, the better you will be at ultimate Frisbee. Not only do you have to be able to throw the Frisbee to a stationary target you also have to throw to a target in motion.

Refining: o Hold the Frisbee with the hand you write with o Place the index finger along the edge, thumb on top and the other

three fingers holding the edge of the disc o The shoulder of the hand you are throwing with should face your target o Bring the disc towards the body by curling the throwing arm making sure to keep the disc level. (Pretend it is a dish of your favorite ice cream you do not want to spill) o Extend the arm and snap at the wrist (still keeping the disc level) while stepping towards your target with your foot (the foot you step with is the same as you hold the disc with).

demonstrate how to properly throw a Frisbee with the backhand technique. The teacher and the student will line up 10 yards away from each other. Transition: students will choose a partner, take a Frisbee, and have one partner line up on the 40-yard line and have the other partner line up on the 30-yard line facing their partner.

3644

Activity 1: Students will now practice their backhand Frisbee throw to their partner each student will make sure that they are throwing using the proper skills. As students improve the teacher will use intra task variation in telling the students that if they feel comfortable that they can move back another 10 yards and continue to throw to their own partner.

Activity 2: Students will now have a 5-minute competition with the class as to which partnership can

successfully complete the most throws from 10 yards away in a row. Everyone will be given 5 minutes to see how high of a streak he or she can get. 4447 Extension harder: the students will now be asked to complete the same task but while moving around in space the entire time, Extension easier: if the students cannot complete a throw from 10 yards away they will then be told to move 5 yards apart and complete the activity of seeing how many complete passes you can get with your partner.

Activity 3: the students will now participate in a 6 v 6 game of ultimate Frisbee. Every student is allowed 5 steps after catching the ball before they have to pass it again. If the Frisbee hits the ground at all then it is considered a turnover.

Extension easier: the students will now be allowed to take up to 10 steps with the Frisbee before they have to pass the Frisbee again. 7476 Extension harder: the students will now be allowed to take only up to 3 steps before having to pass the Frisbee again.

Transition: students will bring in all of the equipment and come into the meeting place where they will put the equipment back in the specific place where it belongs. After this they will line back up on the end line because they were told not to leave before the teacher has a talk with them. 7684

Can you show me the hand alignment while holding the Frisbee? Ask someone to demonstrate properly throwing a Frisbee with the backhand throwing style.

Transition: Students will now go inside where they will change

and wait for the okay from a teacher to move on to the next class.
