Transition: Ss will go into the locker rooms to change, and then go outside to the football field and report to the teacher an await instruction.

Warmup: Start and stop whistle signal will be explained. Signals: One whistle, Stop and look at teacher and

wait for instruction. 10-17 Instruction: Students will play Rock Paper Scissors/Three Sided Tag: Students will be handed, by the teacher, 11 pennies of one color and 11 pennies of another color. Teams, according to color, will be assigned either rock, paper, scissors. Players that are rock can only tag players that are scissors. Players that are scissors can only tag players that are paper. Players that are paper can only tag players that are rock. All other tags do not count. If a player is tagged they must freeze in place with arms across their chest to signal they are frozen. Teammates may unfreeze frozen teammates by touching them. Game will conclude after 5 minutes Transition: Students will return pennies in the bag and gather at the teacher to await further instruction.

Instruction: 15-20 Teacher will explain doubles positioning strategies using two students to demo.

Side by Side Players will line up side by side about one-two steps behind the no-volley-zone. Novolley-zone will be discussed but not enforced during gameplay. Teacher will explain that their individual responsibility will be to mainly move forward and backward to get to the ball with little side to side motions. The players will cover their half of the court. Front and Back

One player will line up onetwo steps behind the novolley-zone on one half of the court. The other player will line up one-two steps in front of the back line on the other half of the court. Teacher will explain that their individual responsibility is to move side to side with little forward to backward motion. Player closest to the net volleys any short pickleballs, while the player further away volleys and deeper hits.

Transition: On Go, Students will form teams of two-three and each grab a paddle and one pickleball per court.

Activity #1:

Students will participate in a ladder format tournament. Winners will rotate toward court 1, and the other team moving toward court 6. Students will first play using side to side strategy. After 8 minutes, students will switch to front and back strategy. Teams with three players will rotate every four points played. The third player must be off the court at the back line to avoid collisions. Third players cant be on the same side of the court, and they must pay attention and help keep pickleballs near the court. 4 minute rounds

Transition: Students, with paddles and pickleballs in hand will gather at the teacher for further instruction. Instruction:

Teacher will explain top spin and back spin method of hitting the ball. Topspin For an effective topspin, students must contact the side and then turn their wrist over the top of pickleball. This allows players to put a spin on the ball to help keep harder hits in the court.

Backspin For an effective backspin, students must contact the side of the ball and then turn their wrist under the ball. This allows for slow and shorter hits while swinging full speed.

Transition: On Go, Students will return to courts and resume ladder tournament format. Activity #2: Students will use either front and back or side by side positioning. Students will receive points based on successful topspin or backspin hits over the net regardless the result of the play. 5 minute rounds

Transition: Students will report to teacher for further instruction. Instruction: 56-58 Teacher will give positive feedback and explain final activity. Transition: On Go, Students will resume ladder format tournament. Activity #3: 58-75 Students will choose to play in either front and back or side by side positioning Normal scoring restored.
