Unit II Variable and cyclic loads fatigue strength and fatigue limit S-N- curve, combined cyclic stress, Soderberg and Goodman equations Design of helical, leaf, disc and torsional springs under constant loads and varying loads. Unit III Design of solid and hollow shaft based on strength, rigidity and critical speed. Design and drawing of keys, keyways, couplings, rigid and flexible couplings. Unit IV Design and drawings of riveted joints - pressure vessels and structures,Screw joints,Cotter joints knuckle joints and pipe joints.
