Ms. Henkel 7th General Language Arts Periods 2, 3, 4 Week 7-Sept 23-Sept 27 Weekly Standards/ Objectives 1.

TSW Explain and use steps for writing descriptively by writing a descriptive selection about given images. 2. TSW explain and use the Finding Evidence formula by using the formula to answer given tasks. 3. TSW explain the importance of AIMS practice tests by going over answers and applying Finding Evidence formula to check comprehension. Activities/Assignments Monday: I do: Intro Descriptive Writing: 3 Steps 1.) Think of 5 senses. 2. Give writing a context or reason for writing. 3. List all things that could hear, see, smell, taste and touch based off of image (whether given or in head) We do: Examine image of a haunted house. Use the steps for writing descriptively by practicing using them with the image. You do: Choose 3 items listed from each of the 5 senses list. Closure: N/A Tuesday: I do: Sunrise Activity: Write out the steps for writing descriptively. We do: Finish practicing with the haunted house image by studying 2 descriptive sentences written about the haunted house. You do: Write sentence or paragraph depending on level descriptively describing messy room image. Closure: N/A Wednesday: I do: Sunrise Activity: You are writing a story. You have chosen space as the setting for your story. Descriptively describe your characters. Present Finding Evidence formula: Based on (specific evidence from text-part of the text) [because-explain evidence] (I think, the correct answer is, etc) Answer [because-explain how evidence chosen proves answer] We do: Practice using Finding Evidence Formula with RHL school activities (finding word meaning from context/choosing a topic) You do: Use Finding Evidence Formula to find evidence from the Robert Frost Meet the Writer Section that explains how Robert Frosts life influenced his writing of The Runaway Closure: Write Homework in Agenda Thursday: I do: Take Attendance We do: Sign on to readingplus.com-Explain that 3 lessons need to be completed a week (1 per program-3 programs total) You do: Complete 3 Lessons
