Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion this task, students should be able to :
a) Draw, install and test run an electro-pneumatic circuits for multiple cylinders
with sequence motion.
Task :
Design an electro-pneumatic control circuits using two pistons for the following
operation :
Press switch A to initiate extend of piston A and switch on a green LED. Fully extend of
piston A will initiate extend of piston B. Piston A will retract to an initial position if
piston B was fully extended. Once piston A was fully retracted, a red LED will be
switching ON while piston B start to retract.
• Use two 5/2 way DCV single solenoid with spring return
• Use two 5/2 way DCV double solenoid
Learning Outcomes:

b) Identify and operate a few types of pneumatic components.
c) Install the serial and parallel circuits for OR/ AND functions.
Task :
Design a pneumatic control circuit for the following operations. For each question, name
the related pneumatics components involved.
a) Presses switch A to extend a cylinder piston and press switch B to retract it.
b) Press either switch A or B will extend a cylinder piston. Then, it will be
automatically retracted when touching a limit switch.
c) Press switch A and B will extend a cylinder piston. It will be retracted if switch C
is pressed.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion this task, students should be able to :
a) Use time delay valve to control double acting cylinder.
Task :
To design a pneumatics control system for the purpose of sticking components have to
undergo these operations.
Presses switch A to extend the double acting cylinder. The extension of the cylinder will
allow the two components to be stick together. Cylinder will remain at the extension
condition for 6 seconds to allow the glue to become completely dry before the cylinder
can retract. The control system restart only after the cylinder is totally retracted for 5
seconds.
Design a pneumatic control circuit and name the related pneumatics components
involved for the following operations.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion this task, students should be able to :
d) Understand a hydraulic control system
e) Draw and install pure hydraulic circuit to control the movement a single
acting cylinder using 4/2 directional control valve
Task :
1) Draw, install and commission a pure hydraulic control circuit to move a double
acting cylinder by pressing a starting lever A or a push button A. Use the following
requirements
a. 1 unit 4/2 way directional control single lever operated spring returned
b. 1 unit pressure relief valve set at 40 bar.
c. the cylinder speed 20cm/sec.
2) Record the gauge pressures at the inlet port and oulet ports of the directional
control valve during the cylinder extending and retracting. Set the system pressure at 20
bar, 25 bar, 30 bar and 35 bar.
Equipments:
a. Pressure gauges

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion this task, students should be able to :
a) Draw , install and commission a hydraulic circuit to control the movement of
double acting cylinder using 4/3 way directional control valve.
b) Measure the flow rate of hydraulic fluid in the cylinder.
Task :
1) Press the starting switch A of a hydraulic cylinder will move the piston for 10cm,
15cm and 20cm stroke. The piston will return to initial state when the switch is
dispressed.
2) Measure the flow rate of the hydraulic cylinder during extending and rectracting by
replacing the existing cylinder with the measuring flow rate cylinder.
3) Replace the cylinder with a hydraulic motor. Set the motor at 3 different speed.
Equipments:

Title : Electro-hydraulics
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion this task, students should be able to :
a) Draw , install and commission an electro-hydraulic circuit to control the
movement of a single acting cylinder using 4/2 way directional control valve.
b) Apply mechanical sensors to electro-hydraulic control system.
Task :
1) Draw, install and commission an electro-hydraulic control circuit to move a double
acting cylinder by pressing a starting switch A OR switch B to move the single acting
cylinder. The cylinder will retract automatically when it reaches the maximum stroke
and the switch C is pressed. Led GREEN and Led RED must be activated when the
piston at the minimum and maximum stroke respectively.
2) Use a 4/2 way directional control valve single solenoid. Set the pump pressure at 20
to 40 bar.
Equipments:
a. Electro-hydraulic trainer.
