Facebook Group for Science Olympiad 2013-2014 has began. All


students here with a FB account may join. We recommend you LIKE and JOIN the page because we do in fact post updates there.

Varsity 15 will be announced later this week.

Final 3* Varsity members will be announced later on to


provide more time for observations.

JV Representative Primary Elections will be pushed


back to at least October 16th to accommodate for this.

3 Stages of Competition

Regional (March)

2. States (April) 3. National (June)


Everyone competes in the Regional.

Regional Level
Top 4-5 SCHOOLS from the Regional level advance to
the State Level.

Only the performance of the VARSITY team will


determine School Placement.

Regionals is March 15th.


*Our main rival is Apex High School, Last years
Division Winner.

State Level
April 25-26th @ N.C State

Competition against Top 50+ schools around the State.


1st Place winners of the EVENT get $2,500+
scholarship to NCSU

Top 2 SCHOOLS go to National Level Again, only Varsity placement can determine National
Placement.

National Level
Orlando, FL

If we go to the National tournament, we will go to a


theme park or something. I know everyone here is excited about Epcot!

Top placers get prizes and scholarships.


In 2010, University of Illinois gave away $100,000
scholarships to many winners!

Team Composition
Each team may have no more than 18 people

Each School can have 1 Varsity + as many JV teams


as they want.

We will have 1 Varsity and 2 JV teams.

Varsity vs JV
Varsity is the more competitive side of competition.
Varsity members will have on average 2-3 events.

JV is more casual and relaxed. More Events are open


for JV = You have more chances of getting the event and partner you want.

Varsity is based on Maturity, Character, Ability, and


Potential.

Varsity will be announced by September 29th

Events
Continue to look at which events interest you MOST.

Pick events that align with your classes.
