Essential Question: To what extent does everyone have history and culture? How are different perspectives for historical events formed, and how do they change over time? Standard 4: Historical Analysis and Interpretation. (4b) Obtain historical data (4c) Interrogate historical data Learning Target: Students will be able to analyze how perspective affects how historical events are interpreted over time. Success criteria: Students will be able to define history in their own words. Students will recall the events of their birth from two perspectives. Vocabulary: Evaluation, Reliable, Perspective, Analyze Lesson: Everyone has a history. Students will create a pamphlet autobiography in order to help them obtain the skills necessary to evaluate and analyze historical data from differing perspectives. This will help students acquire the ability to determine if the data they analyze is reliable. Students will analyze how perspective affects historical events can change over time. Homework: Another Perspective Students will select one of the events that they have thought of to focus on, and will find someone who remembers the event. Students will interview the person, and record the memories they have about the event. Students will also bring their composition notebook and any magazines with which they can use to decorate their composition book.
